The wind howled, rustling the leaves of many trees surrounding her. The sounds reverberated off of the rocky wall, echoing eerily throughout the cavern. Too scared to light a fire, she sat in fearful silence, hand over mouth, for fear that she would be heard. Found. A dog barked in the distance, too close for comfort. She needed to move - and fast. Rising and dusting herself off, she once more entered the forest, twisting and turning this way and that. Her heart beat erratically. Badump - badump. Under the cloak of night she made her way, finding a river and stopping to rest for a moment. She thought she had lost them. Exhaustion took over as the adrenaline left her. As the still silence enveloped her, she allowed her eyes to flutter shut.
The sound of a gun being cocked shattered the silence. She had let her guard down too soon, she was out of practice. The cool metal gently resting against her temple sent chills down her spine. She broke out in a cold sweat, the oversized hood casting shadows onto her face, hiding her expression. She cautiously opened her eyes, flinching at the glowing ruby eyes before her. The creature snarled, sticky saliva dripping down its large canines. Its dark, matt fur looked grey in the moonlight. They had even brought the Hound.
“Rule number one,” the figure besides her whispered in a gruff voice,”Never betray the cause.”
The Hound lunged, rooting its sharp teeth deep into her leg. Blood seeped through her tights, dripping and leaking over its teeth and onto the dewy forest floor, staining it a deep red. Her blood. The sight made her nauseous, she thrashed, causing her to knock into the muzzle of the gun. Unsheathing her hidden blade from its place on her thigh, she stabbed the Hound in between its eyes. As blood gushed forth from the wound the injured creature released her and reeled back, suddenly feeling threatened. She tried to stand but had already lost too much blood, causing her to feel dizzy. She leaned against the tree and tried to hobble away, quickly retrieving the knife, but before she could get too far a gun was smashed into the back of her head. Her vision began to dull. As a last desperate attempt to escape, she blindly threw the blade.
She knew it hit its mark when she heard an astonished yell. A boot dug into her back, repeatedly kicking her again and again. Her limbs were quickly becoming numb. This was it, she had missed her chance. Her body was dragged over to the lake, and her head was harshly grabbed and then forced into the water. There was no oxygen reaching her lungs - struggling was futile. Instead, water filled her airways, choking her. The last thing she remembered was a distorted laugh, sounding further and further away before the world spun to nothingness.
Once again, the forest was silent.
I'm sorry for the short upload and that it's fast paced! I can't think of many ways of how to go about writing and I'm not much of a planner! Please leave a comment! It really helps, and requests are appreciated too!
