1957 - 1961 was such a bad period for the leolandian economy, the sanctions and blocks didn't allowed Leoland to sell its manufactures to other countries, but after the help of the U.S. for the Gutiérrez brothers (and her cousin) being anti-communist, sanctions by Western countries were removed.
Now, Leoland could import and export again, but the economy was seriously damaged, this had minister of war Erika worried, because, despite being a cruel woman who killed her opposition, despite of her power ambition, she in the bottom loved her country, and cared about its welfare.
In Leolandthere was high poverty and unemployement index, so, into the military junta, the Gutiérrez and their partners argued about what to do... So Erika said:
-"All citizens must work together and in solidarity, and we must be firm in supporting them"
So she presented her plan, which consisted in this:
-Promoting the national industrialization and approaching the own natural resources of the country, for making manufactures
-Making the state supporting the leolandian private companies, and also protecting them of the wild international competition
-Preparing the leolandian companies for compete with international ones, so leolandian companies could export succesfully their products on foreign markets
-Creating a Work Agency, to help the unemployed and poor people to be qualified and get a good job
-Investing into social welfare, education, health, food, etc.
The plan proposed by Erika surprised all the people on the junta, including her cousins, who never though her cousin had such lovely side. Meanwhile, "President" Paúl raised his hand and said:
"I have a proposal"
And Vice President Raúl asked to Paúl:
"Wow, i didn't knew that big dumbass head could think something useful, well, just say your proposal"
And Paúl said:
"For fixing leolandian economy, we must plant a coin on the floor and a big money tree will grow"
Everyone slapped their own foreheads after hearing such stupid comment, it's obviously that Paúl was drunk again, so secretary of state Saúl asked to Erika:
"Hey Cousin, why do you f*cking decided during our coup that this stupid drunk old man as the president, why do you just didn't take the charge?"
Erika giggled and said:
"Just a symbolic charge, he is more like a funny and lovely face to show for the country, but in practice, i'm more like the real leader"
Saúl laugh as f*ck and said:
"HAHAHAHAH... You're so silly... I know that you're the true leader of Leoland in the practice but... WTF? This drunk old man having some lovely face? or even some type of charisma? Don't say stupid things Erika, Paúl is just the jester of the junta"
Paúl seems to be angry of seeing his young brother threating him like that type of sh*t, then he said:
"DON'T TA-TALK LIK-KE... T- THIS ABOUT YOU OLDER BRO- BRO... BROTHER!!!"
Erika also saud to Saúl with an angry voice:
"PLEASE BE MORE RESPECTFUL, YOU'RE HURTING HIS FEELINGS"
Saúl just stayed quiet, with a confused stare.
So Paúl said:
"Thank you, dear cousin"
And Erika replied:
"No problem Paúl!"
So... Returning to the topic of the economic situation, and ignoring these comic anecdotes, the Erika's economic plans worked succesfully, and for 1965, there was no more crisis in Leoland, the country had a unprecedented modernization and prosperity, many people inmigrated from other countries to Leoland. One person i can perfectly talk about one person, a woman who came to this country in October 21st 1965, a mexican woman called Paola Josefina Torres, she was a widow 47 years old woman, she was married with a rich old man, but that man used to smoke everyday, until he got lung cancer and died. After that, Paola took al the money of her dead husband, and decided to emmigrate from Mexico.
She previously heard about such beautiful (but ironically authoritarian) country called Leoland, so Paola decided to go to that country, what she didn't knew, was that it was in that country where she would meet the love of her life...
