About half the stuff school teaches me seems completely useless in the long run.
Like, there isn't any job where everyone sits and diagrams sentences. Except of course, if your job is to write on how to diagram sentences. Or if your a teacher teaching kids how to diagram.

I was never fond of studying structure either. They made us mark up sentences with different coloured pens and various lines and circles, and it was all rather silly. From my understanding, the point of recognising all the parts of speech just serves as a basis for learning to write properly, nothing more. Truthfully, it did help me while learning stricter French, which in turn made more sense of English modifiers, participles, and whatnot.
