Not really. BB pages load with 20 posts per page, so load time is roughly the same for every full page.

Then you speak of laziness. Actually, I maintain that usually people don't even think of searching for a thread in the first place. And making threads (especially in Misc.) is, more often than not, a spur-of-the-moment thing. But that's getting into another issue.
Now if I may:
Duping threads is a drain on website database space, shows a lack of creativity, is a waste of time for users who've seen the original, is often a source of spam, and obviously means more work for BB mods. It's like littering when you can recycle--doesn't make sense. So more power to the bump.
Yes, I know; I take the BBs too seriously. But we're past that. =p
