Yes, but what he means is that people do it regardless of the fact the rules are right here, easily available to read. What do they gain by spamming crap on a decent Forum?
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
The Ram-
Since no one answered that I will. They don't gain much for spamming on a forum as such as this, but they gain a +1 in their post count. Don't forget they get attention too, remember that thread titled "hay" or that may of been the first post, but he/she recieved a lot of attention for it.
Don't argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
@poptart56743234 A thread in the 'Current Events' section should be based on a specific event or series of events, not a general topical discussion--e.g. "bill passed to ban abortions" is fine, but "abortions" is not. (And this particular thread is so people use the board properly.)
I am wondering whether it would be productive to have a request thread: users are able to briefly list current events topics they are aware of if they feel someone else should present the topic (it'd be strictly not for discussion). My rationale is that some users may feel Current Events threads are difficult to start as they require some knowledge on the matter as well as presentability, and this board deserves a better level of activity.
It may be worth noting that it is not acceptable to simply copy-and-paste an article or a segment of one. Post things in your own words and quote or provide a source when necessary.
I will probably read newspapers now in an attempt to contribute to this board. Long live the news! P.S. Thanks for the guidelines! They will help me tremendously with my contribution ;-).
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who know binary and those who don't.
A reminder: celebrity news generally does not belong on this board. Current Events was created for in-depth discussion on important world topics. Celebrities are not representative of culture and society as a whole. If the item could go on a tabloid cover, best not to post it. Examples of unsuitable topics might be a singer releasing a new single or a Hollywood marriage. However, topics like the aftermath of an athlete coming out as gay or the controversial death of a celebrity's child are fine. So please, think of the ensuing discussion when determining how worthy a topic is.
Let me elaborate a little on starting a discussion for a valid topic. Your thread's first post should be informative. Assume anyone reading it has little to no idea what you are talking about. No word or line count will be enforced, but at least have a short blurb of information, and no more than a handful of paragraphs. It should adequately acquaint the audience to your subject in an efficient manner, as well as exist independently of your thread title.
