That's right. I finally did it. I homebrewed my 3DS (New 3DSXL *cough*)
A few days ago I was thinking about the imminent closure of the Wii U E-Shop and 3DS E-Shop. I know I know, I already combined my E-Shop funds with my switch funds so that I would still be able to buy stuff. I even put $50 on there, and even right now I have $50 waiting on my 3DS, my Switch, and my Wii U.. I got to thinking, maybe I could save that for something that I find really important, and maybe find some..... alternative ways for the others games?
So I got to work, someone in one of my group chats loosely mentioned a method and posted a link for it. All I needed to do was to mod my 3DS. Well with it being 2023 and me having a bunch of micro SD cards laying around (yeah the new version of the 3DS takes micro instead of regular) and a computer.... and also a few different USB adapters, I got to work. The process was extremally simple. I pwned the system and off I went.
and just like that
What did I do first? Well I got almost every single Zelda and Metroid game you could get. Now since I was a little skeptical of using one of my 128gb micro SD cards for this project (because of the way you'd have to format it). I decided to use a 2GB one that I had (the bare minimum that you need to get everything running). But! Today my 2 64GB micro SD cards came so I got everything switched over to that and I am all good to go.
I now have free access to every game that I could possibly get from the E-Shop, and then some! I got some really cool themes for Legend of Zelda stuff from Europe.
One of these days I may even get that cool application that allows you to stream 3DS games to your PC. (I probably will)
I'm sure that there's loads of other stuff that I could do as well, but for now, I think that's all I'm going to do.
Also here's a picture of my OG 3DS

No I'm not posting links for the free shop that I mentioned, I'm sure if you dug around long enough you'd find it.
Should I do my Wii U next? 👀👀👀
