Fallout: New Vegas. A game so overrated that it has more glaze than a donut. Yes, it is a fun game. I enjoyed the little time I played it and will give a review once I'm done, but I'm not here to talk about the game. I'm talking about the fanbase of it.
As a wise person I found in a TikTok comment section once said, "the biggest fallout haters are fallout NV fans", which is sadly true. They only play NV, and only care about NV. They would never dare play fallout 3 and they call every fallout 4 fan a "newgen". They are the biggest haters ever. When it was revealed that fallout season 2 would take place in NV, they cared only about the accuracy of the show to the games. They cannot feel any happiness towards anything at all.
Have you ever seen a video online talking about how either fallout 4 is a good game or that fallout NV has some flaws? I can assure you that in the comment section, it's 90% NV glazers nonstop complaining and acting like you just killed them. Back to the "newgen" point, they themselves act like total children if you say anything bad about their sweet, sweet game. If you dare start off fallout with fallout 4, which is by far the best for a new fallout player, they rip the head clean off you. Why? Because you didn't start your fallout career with NV, which is most certainly a game which would be much too difficult to start fallout with. Just try to fast travel, your game will most likely crash. Not to mention the quarry junction.
They are so egotistical as well. They all think they're the best of the best simply because they play a game which barely runs. They think they're so cool that they cannot relate with us mere non-NV fans, how dare we even look at their precious game. If you rounded up NV fans and said they either have to fight a deathclaw barehanded or play newer fallout games, 9/10 of them would gladly choose the deathclaw. They run purely off nostalgia. They care about the nostalgia so much that it isn't even about New Vegas anymore. Mention one thing about post 2010 fallout and they'll go and cry in a corner like a toddler.
Yes, the new fallout games may be a lot easier, but a game isn't based on its difficulty. I found fallout 4 pretty easy, but I still found it so enjoyable. This goes out to gamers in general: DON'T JUDGE A GAME BASED ON ITS DIFFICULTY. A bit of a side rant but remember when Astro bot won GOTY 2024? Remember all the Black Myth: Wukong fans or the Elden Ring DLC fans complaining about how easy it was? That's not the point of GOTY. It's a fun game, that's why it won. It's exactly how NV fans act. I'd rather play an easy game than end a playthrough with a controller through my screen.
I'm gonna end this blog here, but I want to make it clear that not all NV fans are like this. Some are chill and enjoy every Fallout game, but hating a game just because it's new or easy makes no sense. I'm aware that this blog is very short but I seriously do not give a shit in the slightest. A guy can rant.
Each game in the franchise has its own merit. My biggest disappointment with modern Fallout content (which recently has only been that TV show and Fallout 76) is the inability for the teams to explore the *rest* of the globe, which, according to the lore, is *also* irradiated and dilapidated. I would LOVE to see how annexed Canada is doing, or even how China's fared. But no. We only ever get stories coming from the NCR, New Vegas, the Commonwealth, the Capitol and Appalachia. That's only 5 main settings that these games have ever taken place in in its nearly 30 year life span.
But yeah I agree. Some people are needlessly vicious.
I completely agree with this. As a long time fan of the series, and admittedly favoring NV over them all, I can say that while NV is an amazing game, it's important to acknowledge that each of the games brought new, innovative mechanics. Along with this, you're absolutely right about the NV fans getting WAY too defensive over the game

yes!! i started new vegas and i have to say it is fun and i wish to finish it, so im not exactly a hater
It's definitely worth a playthrough, and very innovative in terms of defining story and your choices within it. However, it very clearly has aged, and not particularly well in terms of graphics and bugs. But it is Bugthesda, of course

How the game has aged is why I found myself not enjoying NV. I can appreciate it from watching it, but playing it is not enjoyable to me.
