Hey folks! Just a quick message regarding some incidents happening in blogs.
First off, I understand - writing a good blog is hard, especially if you’re trying to get featured. However, please understand that the usage of such tools scrubs the internet for information, puts it all in a blender, hits frappe, and spits out some of the most generic, lazy and obvious piece of “work” known to man.
Thus, usage of AI counts as plagiarism which is very much a no-no around here, a place where creativity and originality are valued. It’s easy to tell when something is AI generated. Sentence structure, punctuation, etc are consistent with AI content as again, all it’s doing is spitting out information it collects randomly.
Consider the ethics of AI usage as well. You’re stealing other people’s hard work and claiming it as your own. Not exactly person of the year activity. Moreover, AI usage uses a lot of power, most of which comes from power plants utilizing the evaporation of fresh clean water, which is becoming very scarce in some parts of the world. The fumes from this process also contribute greatly to climate change, of which there is a global emergency to try and fix. The rise of AI only made the issue worse.
That being said; no one is in trouble, yet. Effective immediately, all AI usage in content like blogs or images, will NOT be allowed, will NOT be featured, and will be removed. Repeat offenders will have further consequences, but hopefully we will not get to that point.
On behalf of the admin team, thank you all for your cooperation and understanding.
I think itd be cool to add a little box that people can check to add something on the page that says "ai was utilized as an aid in the writing of this" maybe idk not rlly a fan of ai but I know a lot of people utilize it idk
It'll likely happen, but not the same.
With the uprising of generated realistic content (not AI) through programs like Unreal Engine and Blender, I may add a couple of toggles anyways: "Is there content that isn't real, but appears so?", "Is there copywrited material?", and a couple of others
Just an idea for some I dont particularly like ai hated it since before chatgpt 4 or anything similar came out but a lot of people love it so its an idea
Its an idea its not like I'm fucking forcing you I'm just voicing an idea that could be cool could be not in not telling you to implement it I'm just saying an idea
Sometimes while writing my own work, it'll appear like AI to me, but it'll be obvious that it isn't - aka, a fever dream sometimes (and i need a way to fix that)
Had to edit my comment.
Anyone who knows ChatGPT can tell!!! Not only is it painfully uncreative but anytime we see “—“ or stacked adjectives/a list of three (when it lists “x, y, and/or z” )it’s clear that AI is involved
I have a worry that with more AI online using "-" that some people might start using dashes more and appear more like AI. People tend to write similarly to what they read.
It's a depressing thought to picture a future where it's harder and harder to tell.
