TRIGGER WARNING: This song is about an REAL execution and also uses slightly religious wording to describe it.
You have been warned.
HELLO EVERYONE ITS ME KASHBANOOKA AGAIN...
I'm to the point with my Tally Hall obsession where professional help is no longer an option and am now talking about Joe Hawley's solo project Hawaii Part 2! Specifically the song THE MIND ELECTRIC
im not gonna bore you with a history lesson this time around so enjoy reading this.
"Simon: Think of these thoughts as limitless light
Exposing closing circuitry of fright
Think of each moment holding this breath as death minute in decimal
Judge: Resident minor, how do you plead?
We'll need your testimony on the stand.
Solemnly swear to tell the whole truth so help me son now raise your right hand."
Okay, so our main character is Simon got that? Simon has gotten himself in...A bit of a pickle and is currently STRAPPED TO THE ELETRIC CHAIR ABOUT TO BE EXECUTED. Simons verse is basically explaining that his thoughts are racing, and he knows he doesn't have much time left. He's experiencing flashbacks to every death he's heard about or witnessed.
The judge asks typical judge questions. Which STRONGLY implies he's being charged for his crimes.
"Simon:Father your honor, may I explain?
My brain has claimed its glory over me
I've a good heart albeit insane
???: Condemn him to the infIIIrmary"
Simon explains that he has a good heart and his brain is truely the culprit for all the bad things he's doing. Meaning... This man has done some screwed up stuff. Which he allegedly wasn't in control over. He's obviously mentally unwell so he gets sent to the infirmary. But judging by how they sing it...It doesn't seem to be a nice place that Simon would enjoy going too.
"Simon: All mine towers crumble down the flowers gasping under rubble
Shrieking in the hall of lull, thy genius saves a thirst for trouble
Scattering sparks of thought energy
Deliver me and carry me away
The VOICE: Here in my kingdom I am your Lord
I order you to cower and pray"
The world around him is crumbling since...He's about to be executed that's a good reason, eh?
The melody gets calmer and...
I've seen multiple theorys claiming he's been visited by a priest and thats whos speaking but I PERSONALLY think Simon still sings that bit.
Then the VOICE kicks in. Who's the voice? Exactly.
"Nuns commence incanting as the lightning strikes mine temples thus
Electrifying mine chambers, wholly scorching out thine sovereignty
So-so-so-so-so-so-so-so spiraling down thy majesty
I beg of thee, have mercy on me
I was just a boy you see
I plead of thee have sympathy for me"
We FINALLY reach the line where Simon gets executed, hinted at by "Lightning strikes mine temples" The spiraling bit is just describing his struggle while being shocked to a crisp. He begs for mercy Aswell, but it does him no good.
"See how the serfs work the ground (see how they fall)
And they give it all they've got (fall)
And they give it all they've got (fall)
And you give it all you've got 'til you're down (fall)
See how the brain plays around
And you fall inside a hole you couldn't see
And you fall inside a hole inside a-
Someone help me
Understand what's going on inside my mind
Doctor I can't tell if I'm not me"
He's begging and screaming for help but...It didn't kill him. He's describing his fear and simply tells the doctor that he can't tell if he is himself anymore. Hes wondering what happened also. He SHOULDN'T be alive.
"When it grows bright, the particles start to
Marvel having made it through the night
Never they ponder, weather electric
Calming if you look at it right!"
Everybody is shocked (No pun intended) to see him alive. He got to sleep another night.
That concludes it. Thank you all for reading and I will see you in my next blog. Buh-bye!
