Ok, so they say it's the summer's hit. I don't think it was really worth staying up past midnight and standing in line for over an hour. Sure the graphics are great, I liked the big wave Aang did at the end of the movie (I was kinda hoping to see the giant coyfish, like the cartoon), but I did not like the name re-pronunciations. At all. They needed to stay the same as they were in the cartoon. The casting couldve been better, and the story needed to be told better. Too much important things were left out. Frankly, the movie needed to be 3 hours long. Like Lord of the Rings. The characters were changed, I did not like the more-serious Sokka, the constantly depressed Aang, the softer voiced Commander Jao, or the less funny personality (and thinner) Uncle Iroh.
However, I did like the fact that the fire-benders needed a bending source, like water and earth. And only a few, like Iroh and Azula could bend with their own Chia (Zuko can sorta do that too, but he's not mastered enough).
If you liked the cartoon, you will be disappointed when you see this, but if you really don't care about the story, it would be a great movie to watch. (I've always loved the cartoon)
I was a huge fan of the cartoon series and saw this a day after the release. I must say, it wa a huge disappointment. After seeing it, I realized how terrible Noah ringer was at acting for Aang( or should I say Ong). I had the chance to look him up on imdb.com and found that he has no previous history in acting. Very disappointed with this movie.
I was told this by my older cousin and I'm disappointed because the show was so great. Why can't movie producers learn? Leave the main points and parts of the cartoon intact (including the names) and actually try to tie it together well, and then the fans won't hate your movie. But seriously, what was up with the characters? I don't even think Zuko had a scar ò_ó
OH MY GOSH. Okay this movie has Aang's name pronounced all wrong. They say it "Ong." Wth? Makes me so angry! I love Avatar: the Last Airbender anime. I don't think i'm even gonna see the movie, it'll just make me hate it all together.
