Acording to British Studies, smoking one cigrette takes away 11 seconds of your life. That can prove it kills you.
Smoking causes lung cancer and affects the body terribely. Imagine. You smoked 400 Cigrattes. BOOM. 3,600 seconds lost of your life. Just because of a cigrette.
Smoking is a prime problem in America and other countries concerning Lung cancer, death, bad lungs etc.
Smoking is not ever good. I question why they invented Cigrattes.
Before you read this, I am in no way supporting smoking or smokers, in fact i hate them. The thing is smokers are addicted, you can't just stop. Studies show most smokers try quitting about seven times before they give up on it. I understand where you're coming from but they can't just be told, they KNOW the effects, they just need to find it in themself to quit.
i think cigarettes are secretly population control aides.. its very sad. i'm also very addicted. sometimes i laugh at it (cmnt dlt'd) because the idea of quitting makes me miserable. wish i never ever started.
Although the statistics vary widely about the harmful effects of tobacco, the general consensus is that is leads to a weakened immune system, premature wrinkles, respiratory issues, and stunted growth. It has also been proven that smoking while pregnant will cause mental development problems in the baby, leading to below-average learning in school years. This continues through childhood years when a child lives in a house where at least one parent smokes.
Employers are less likely to hire smokers because they are less productive (frequent breaks), cause breathing problems with co-workers, take more sick days, and lead to significant increases in corporate health insurance premiums.
As for the question as to the invention of tobacco cigarettes, they started with tobacco pipes of the American Indians tribes. The chemicals in tobacco are depressants, meaning they calm the mind, leading to social gatherings of relaxation after a long day. Although those pipes were unhealthy, the average person of that era did not smoke the equivalent of two packs a day like the average smoker.
On another note: based on the two-packs per day and the medium household costs, such a smoker could quit and have enough spare money to make two extra mortgage payments per year.
My grandma has been smoking ever since she was about 30, and she's 60 now and in terrible condition. She smoke a pack a day. She's got lung cancer, but can't, even for the life of her, can't stop smoking. It's an incredibly addictive drug.
