A strong relationship with God requires spending time with Him. How would you like it if you started dating some guy/girl, but never talked. You wouldn't be very close. New first-time Christians are often very excited and have no problem reading God's Word. But what about us, who are tired of that now? Some excuses for not doing devotions: I don't have time. I don't know what to read. I'm not learning anything. For most of these cases, the best thing to do is follow these 3 steps: 1. Have a plan. Choose a book of the Bible to read. Don't do anything else. Stick with your original plan. 2. Read a short amount. Two or three verses. 3. Make sure you know what it means. Write down anything to remember from your reading. Hopefully, you can stick with this plan and stay close to God. NOTE: I didn't say this is the only way to do devotions. Just an easy way to get started. Questions or comments? Please post below.
