I have a friend who is 14 who is 12 weeks pregnant. Obviously it was a bad idea but you have to be supportive anyways.
-Teen moms have a higher risk of poor eating habits and are less likely to take prenatal multivitamins.
-Teens are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol, and take drugs [INCLUDING prescribed medication] during pregnancy which can lead to health problems for the baby.
-Teen moms are less likely to gain enough weight during the pregnancy which can cause low-birthweight which is associated with some infant and childhood disorders and a higher rate of mortality. Low-birthweight babies are much more likely to have organs which aren't fully developed, causing complications like bleeding in the brain, respitory distress syndrome and intestinal problems.
-Pregnant teens are more likely to get high-blood pressure.
-Teen moms are at a higher risk to get postnatal depression which can lead to suicide or neglect of the baby.
-Giving birth and being pregnant as a teen is also dagerous because your bones aren't mature and you're not fully grown. Complications can occur during childbirth due to age and under development.
~Boys born to teen moms are 13% more likely to be incarccerated later in life.
~Girls born to teen moms are 22% more likely to become teenage moms themselves.
~More than 2/3 of all teenagers who have a baby won't graduate from highschool.
~60% of teen moms don't have a male partner when the baby is born.
~Babies are EXPENSIVE, during the first year alone you can spend from 3,000-6,000$ [depending on what you buy]
~To raise a baby to 18 years old is costs from 125,000-250,000$ not including college tuition.
~Teen moms are more likely to become involved in unhealthy relationships[i.e abusive] due to loneliness and financial problems.
~The USA spends at least 7 billion dollars annually on teen moms [2005]
Don't be a teen mom, you have your whole life ahead of you, go and live first. Travel, get a good job, house, education.

Mmyeah... a complete blog on this subject, we didn't seen that since a while... Well you're statistics are frightening (does USA really spend 7000000000 ?) x) !
Okay, thanks for the clarification. I'm reading this on my iPhone, and some characters done show the same. It would still be good to list references where young girls who are pregnant can find help or counseling on raising the baby.
I wrote it on the dsi :p I just used • but it didn't appear correctly then i tried ~ and it still didn't I don't really know why... I DID get the facts from online but i reworded the ones I could. I can cite the sources i got the information from later oday when i get to use the computer if you want though.
Neongirlx, this blog has many great points as to why one should wait until adulthood to even consider having children. I can see that this is plagiarized content through most of the blog because of the way the bullet points did not appear correctly. Could you please cite the source and permission they gave for you to repost the content?
To all of you going "ewwww! gross!", these are the basic functions of life. The meaning of life is to be born, live, reprodcue, then die. Some people skip the live part and go onto reproduce too early. That is a problem...
Yeah teens see other teens on 16 and pregnant and want to have babies as well. Many teens get pregnant if they don't get much love or support from friends and/or family. They want unconditional love from a baby, but they don't fully realize the commitment they're making.
