Today is known as Guy Fawkes Night, or Bonfire Night. A celebration usually celebrated in Great Britain, the celebration is for the botched conspiracy by a small group of English Catholics trying to assassinate the Protestant King.

People complaining are stupid. The censored word literally means "a bundle of sticks" and is being wrongfully censored. Stop calling abuse and whining so much when you're wrong.

Traditions can get a bit creepy to different generations and different cultures. Personally, I'd be scared if people were out in the streets burning crosses again, but I live in America and that has a bit of a different meaning here.

Commander - That's an urban legend. The word originated from consonantal shifts of the German origin as English formed from it: "sch" turned to sh"; "ss" turned to "t"; and the vowels changed around those shifts.

Here are a few of the shifts:
s/ss -> t
t/tt --> d
g --> y
sch --> sh
f/ff --> p
pf --> pp
d --> th
z --> t
ch --> k

Examples:
wasser --> water
tag --> day
apfel --> apple
ess(en) --> eat
mach(en) --> make

Amen.
There is a word they used to stamp on crates of manure before they shipped off on ships in the 18th century or so.
The word was an acronym. Here's what it was:
Ship High In Transit.

Now you know where that word came from. Why the Devil it is a bad word now is beyond my knowledge.

True, just like how "gay" has gone from "happy", to "homosexual", and is now being used in slang to mean "stupid" or "pointless" ect.

It's almost as if some words CRAVE and STRIVE to enter the hall of infamy, and be listed among the curse words and offencive words..

Lol, but that's just rediculous, but what's more believable is that perhaps there are people out there who wanted to make a mark on this world by turning a word into something ugly....

Anyone can combine letters to create a "word" and give it their own meaning, the problem is people who have profane minds that take those words and pervert them to mean something comepletely different and eventually, it's possible they'll become vulgar or bad...

Lol, you realize that this poem dates back to before you, your parents, your grandparents, your great grandparents, and your great great grandparents were born.

That word has a totally different meaning and is taken in context exactly how it was written over 400 years ago.

Before you even REMOTELY try to argue the difference between me saying a word, and you saying a word, learn some history first.

In other words, I am not trying to "ZOMG HE SAID A BAD WORD" and get away with it, I am providing you with a piece of history. Huge difference.

Nice try, come back when you have learned a little bit here and there.

if it's in appropriate now... don't say it. and just becuase your an admin it doesn't mean you can substitute dirty words!!! we aren't aloud to, so you can't either. admins have the same rules as reg. users and you also have the same consiquences... plus there was no time when that dreaded word was appropriate. don't abuse your integrity.
