The cave was dark and the umistakeable stench of death clung to air. Cobb webs hung from the walls and I wondered to myself how small aracnids could live in such a climate. The rustling was heard again and we stopped. The noise came closer and a small screech eminated from the darkness. Then a huge spider-like creature swooped in from the ceiling and knocked Reo to the ground.
I heard the loud baying of a wolf outside the cave and the next thing I knew the aracnid was being dragged off of Reo by a large grey wolf. The animal decapetated the eight-legged creature with its strong jaws and slowly the wolf transformed into a human.
Reo stood, wide-eyed, and looked at the human. "I am Zofrin," the human spoke Orcish.
"A druid," I hissed. I still hated druids after all this time and wondered if this one would spring into a tree.
Just then, a large stinger struck Zofrin in the chest. A wasp flew at us and Reo sliced it in half, mid air. "Go on, I'll be fine," Zofrin urged us forward.
Reo and I ran into the tunnel and emerged into a large room. We stood on a platform. It was quiet and I could still smell the odor of rotting flesh. The room started buzzing about us and swarms of various hissing creatures scaled down the wall towards us. Some crawled or flew down, but other repelled from the ceiling on their webbing. We started fighting the creatures off one by one untill one creature grabbed me by the ankle and began to drag me off the edge. I yelled out for help and Reo turned and looked at me. He ran to me quickly before the creature took me and extended a hand. I grabbed him by the arm and he pulled me up.
"I would never let my brother die," Reo added and we turned back to the onslaught of bugs. But surprisingly, all of them lay dead and sliced in half on the ground before us. "Strange," Reo added.
"We stumbled into a nest, what more is there? Did you not kill them?"
"How could I have? I was saving you." Reo stared at the shells of dead insects.
