"There are greater powers controling Darin!" Reo turned to me. He was clearly unhappy with me speaking against him. But I did not feel shameful. I had been through enough to speak my mind once in a while. If it were true that there were greater forces controling the fate of Darin, then I still had far to go. If so, Lanalie had not even seen this. I doubted myself now. I could not rid the world of Darin the first time. What if he were still out to destroy me and Reo?
I had no idea of where we were headed. I just knew the mountain ahead of us grew larger as we neared it. Reo did not speak his intentions but I trusted him. When we were close to the mountain face, Reo held out his hand and spoke a few words in an unknown tongue. The words were rough and seemed to tumble from his mouth like a rock slide. He was speaking to the mountain and in turn the rock opened like a large stone door. I followed Reo through the opening with Zofrin not far behind.
The mountain opened into a large room clad in white and blue marble. Icicles dripped from gold trimming that lined the walls and in the middle, a large rune sword was layed across a pedestal. The runes were unlit and did not glow the same bright blue as mine. In the background, not two feet from the weapon, a full suit of armor stood all by itself. The plate was black against the cold, white marble. Reo reached to grab the sword.
"Who dares disturb my enternal sleep?" the armor boomed. It was not filled.
"It is a lich," Zofrin said behind us.
"Defeat it with me," Reo commanded. The lich stepped forward and took up the blade. Even though nothing seen inhabited the suit, it moved like an expert fighter. Reo drew his conjured sword and me my dual blades. I had no idea how to defeat an enemy one could not physicaly see in its armor. Reo took a swipe at it but nothing made contact. I went for it's head and knocked off the helm.
