There have been quite a few users asking me how to make a hit counter. You actually want to know how to insert a hit counter on a bio. It's very simple compared to the more advanced aspects of the site's custom tags, and basically entails merely putting an image on your bio.
1. Find a website that offers free website counters. In my opinion, the best and easiest site to use is http://www.easycounter.com.
2. Register with the site. It will probably ask you for an email. I suggest using the same one you used for DSiPaint.
3. Now you can customize your counter. Different sites offer different options, though most offer different designs.
4. Make sure the counter is HTML.
5. When you receive the code for it, look for the <img> tag. For example, it might say <img src = "http://www.freecounts.com/images/123456789.gif">. Just copy the image url within the quotes.
6. Edit your bio and paste the image url in between the [ image ] tags. It should look something like this (without spaces):
And after you save and view your profile, should appear:
7. Also, keep in mind that most sites that provide hit counters will want a link to their website included with the counter. You don't have to do this, but you do run the risk of having your counter removed.
8. Don't put it on multiple pages because it will count hits for each of those pages, and you don't really want it to do that.
