Today we'll be talking about the home menu and operating system, you should know more or less how the menu looks like, but details weren't revealed until these days.
The home menu will look more or less like the DSi menu, with more space for the icons and with customizable options, like zooming in and out, for example you can simply zoom out and display 64 icons at the same time or zoom in until only 4 icons are shown in at the same time, looking similar to the DSi menu
Now inside the multi-tasking, if you hit the home button while running a main software, like a game or the movie player you'll be able to use 4 apps, the internet Browser, Notepad, notifications and friend list, we will most likely be able to edit settings as well, besides this "quick" menu if you want to run more apps you'll have to close the main software running.
Why? Well, having a game paused and running other apps will demand a considerable power, its a smart idea because multi-tasking in a limited way won't lag the software and won't suck up all the battery at once, unlike i've heard *cough*iPod*cough* lets you multi-task without limitations results in lag and shorter battery life.
Awesome isn't it? and oh yeah, as you can see in the picture the icons clearly says "3D movie player"
The movie player app will be per-installed to the 3DS, which means you'll have it right after unboxing your new device, it will apparently come with "How to train your Dragon" but Nintendo has been quiet since E3. Several movie companies have been announced, among these Dream Works and Warner Bros with "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" which had the trailer displayed in E3 in the trial 3DS units.
The top screen will display the movie as you can see, the bottom screen will have a few control buttons and will become dark while you don't use it (and even if you are using it, it will be darker in a standard way.), what is very appreciated since you have to pay attention to the top screen. The 3D effect will be fixed, you won't be able to adjust the 3D depth level like in games, because unlike games this 3D isn't being made in real-time (applies also to 3D pictures.), it is a recorded content.
We do not know, but nintendo will probably sell the movies via the éShop. The 3D movie theater will probably be reserved Only for 3D movies, but Nintendo or the movie Publishers will probably take non-3D movies and convert them just for the 3DS, who knows?
@Lucas7 Downloading something actually would make it cost less, considering the company doesn't have to pay for the creation and distribution of a physical medium.
Still, I'm sure each 3D movie will cost like what, $30.00?
It's a big lofty price, but it's logical. The 3D graphics is worth $10.00, The portablility (If that's a word) is worth another $10.00, Buying it online - $10.00.
