Hello again peeps, And Don't freak out yet! 3DS games weren't hacked (yet?).
As you may know already, the 3DS launched yesterday in japan, and almost (or every) unit in stores in the whole country were sold out in 3 hours (6am to 9am) as the Japanese online community claims. More shipments from china don't stop coming to supply the 3D gadget-hungry population, but it isn't enough and a lot of people went home without the Oh So dreamed device, running, fighting or even wrestling wasn't enough.
Despite the bloody fight and sad end for most souls, it is sad to remember some guys insist in making illegal stuff for running games, illegally.
As expected, the retro-compatibility of the Nintendo 3DS drove it to the first claims that it was "hacked" on its first day among the population.
It wasn't.
The ability of running DS games is possible because Nintendo made the hardware able to "simulate" a DS, which means the device runs games in a "DS native mode", which means they are not 3DS enhanced, which also means the same illegal devices for the DS works on the 3DS, for DS games.
The attempt of Nintendo to block these flashcards on the DSi wasn't very successful , on the first firmware update they blocked the system from reading the card by blocking it from the menu, the icon was the key, the original icon flashcards used on the DSi icon gave away its identity, which was easy for nintendo to block, which was also easy for hackers to bypass, sending a firmware update to the cards, that Changed the icon to a normal game icon, hiding the flashcard indentity.
Nintendo didn't expect that, but in a last attempt they blocked these "false" game icons with another firmware update, but once again hackers changed it, since then nothing was done besides another fail attempt of blocking these false icons.
Hackers are free to choose from almost 6000 DS games, Nintendo can't block every single icon, maybe the main reason they haven't sent anymore DSi firmware update to block flashcards.
Of course, they must have blocked a great amount of these on the 3DS, but hackers could still use new ones, this is why DS flashcards are actually working on the 3DS.
With a greater internal memory, and automatic updates expect these from stop working soon
Thanks for reading, and before any one asks:
No i am not one of these hackers, i know all that based in long time observations.
Don't forget to comment
Happy 3DS launch waiting!
...the picture wasn't big enough to get the full queue...
every one needs to chill out! the reason people use flash cards is becuse why pay up to $40 on a dsi game that if you dont like you`ll be lucky enough to resell it for abou $15. why pay $40 for 1 game with a 50/50 chance of you liking it when you can pay $35 for just about unlimited, and on that single flashcard you can hold up to 50 games, yes 50 games depending on the size. i have a flash card and it doesnt ruin the game at all, the only thing it does is save you money
Look, I'm [somewhat] against AceKard, as it's "piracy", depending on the context. Now, my AR DSi plays Homebrew games/apps with my Micro SD Card, and, that's not illegal, since it's not playing a bootlegged copy of Super Mario 64DS, am I right?
The only reason Nintendo ever updates a firmware is to attempt to block Homebrew/Flashcards.
In a matter of a week or less of a firmware update,(The record being 2 days.) a bypass is made and Nintendo's 6 month firmware update is rendered useless.
dannng no life if he could make that in all one day it would take me forever to make a card lie that well i dont know much about circut boards so it would take me longer than 4ever.
