-.-
I'm sick if these commercials that are all about "green" this and "green" that. The truth is, they care nothing about "green". Not the science part. The only "green" they care about is what's in your wallet.
People, come on. Seriously? CO2 IS NOT POLLUTION!!!!
Carbon Dioxide is a harmless gas that MOST LIVING CREATURES EXHALE! And the rest of the living creatures (trees and plants) INHALE.
I mean, it's no wonder trees are dying, we are worried about "pollution" of Carbon Dioxide, and making these objects that destroy the gas. When the real pollution enemy comes from the object itself!
My step dad is a stress and nuclear engineer. His career focuses more on stress engineering rather than nuclear. But he knows his stuff. He once told me that leaving a car on is not only better for the car alone, and better for your wallet (he's a cheapskate too), it's also less pollution for the atmosphere. The longer the car runs, the less harmful gas is expelled. Eventually, it will be basically clean oxygen that you can inhale straight from the tail pipe.
Starting an engine requires a lot of stress on the engine, more gas guzzling, and throws out 10 times more bad gas to the air. When I stop at a small store to pick up a few things, I always keep the car running, and I lock the door with the spare keys. But that's only for a quick run. If it was wal-mart, I would turn the car off.
These scientists are not very smart. Like I said, the only green they want is 10's, 20's, and 100's.
By all means, be energy efficient. But don't over-do it.
We can't be Green Gods. So cut down a bit on spending more money on something that costs more money to throw away, not to mention, not worth the money. I'm all for cars that run on water, but not if it costs more money to manage. Some people have no idea how much they throw away just because they believe everything scientists tell them.
the problem isnt the co2, its the lack of trees.
every normal sized tree can support 5 humans and balance them out.
it takes around 2 trees to balance a car, and more to balance a house.
if we had enough trees we would be fine, but we need trees for lumber.
if we dont use lumber we have to use meatal or plastic, both of which are limited.
we need to stop being mindless consumers like all the big companies want and start using less resorces.
But there is not a balance of CO2. With hundreds of millions (billions for all I know) of cars on the road there can't be, since cars are a relatively new invention, so it's not like nature is able to simply adjust to that, epescially with deforestation.
However, it is true that companies just want your money. :/
In a way you're right. But there is NO abundance of CO2, and still people mistaken it as toxic gas. The reason CO2 can kill you is because your body can't use it, and it suffocates you to death. Yet, it is not harmful.
As long as a ballance remains, CO2 is not pollution.
Lets take as example, the sea near coastal cities, for example, in a city called Santos, Brazil the organic contamined water from houses from the entire city is not "directly" treated, it is just prepared and its threw away in the sea, the idea is to let the sea and the nature deal with the organic material on that water, bacteries will consume that material? yes they will, but now tell me, lets suppose you LOVE chocolate as Crazy, and you are carving for it, if i give you 50g of chocolate you will eat it? yes you will, now if i give you 100Kg of chocolate, You will eat it? no, you can't eat that much. Thats what happens with these bacteries in sea water, because the organic materia threw away is so many it can't be consumed properly by the nature, result: Water contamination.
Same happens with C02, If you give a Plant, enough sunlight, enough water, enough minerals, it will produce ATP and will synthetise the CO2 etc...what will eventually result in O2 liberation, But that Plant can only handle a specific quantity of CO2, minerals, H2O and sunlight, after that limit the Plant can even get intoxicated (C02), burnt (sunlight), or drown (H20).
CO2 isn't polution in the right quantities, lets suppose theres a city with 15ppm of CO2 in the air like São Paulo most times. with that quantity your eyesight is compromised, you can't see properly because of the dense CO2 fog. That is normal? no, it isn't.
With 80ppm of CO2 you start with headaches, 100ppm results in sickness and muscular weakness, 270ppm you will colapse, and 800ppm you die.
Nothing in excessive quantities is good, which means excessive CO2 is considered polution.
I am learning ppm, ppb, and other stuff at school so i am well inside the subject, don't ask.
