Well, as you can see, today is my birthday! MY 18TH BIRTHDAY. WOOT! *Cue techno beat*
UNCE UNCE UNCE! Hey, and now I can register to vote, smoke (ew...), and go clubbing.
Er...whatever. :3 The real reason I decided to make this blog was to talk about growing up. As I am crossing the threshold into adulthood, I'm slightly nervous, but at the same time, I am excited. I know I've much to learn, and much to experience, but I hope to face it head on.
Here is a letter that my mother had sitting on the table for me this morning:

Dear TJ,

Wow, I cant believe you're 18 today!!! It seems like just yesterday that I was blessed with my first precious son.

There are so many things I want to tell you and so much I still feel I should teach you.
But I suppose that time has almost passed. You will soon begin your own trek into this world, and I pray that you will become the man that God intends for you to be. I know you are going to make me proud.

A couple of months ago, I was accepted into Henderson University in Arkansas (although I live in Texas). I decided to go there because of their good swim team, on which I have several friends, and they have a good program for the major that I'll likely be pursuing (political science.) But honestly, I'm not too sure what I want to do in life (career-wise), but I do have dreams of my own. Whether or not I am able to accomplish them will depend on my will to perservere in my pursuit of them.
While I will miss many things about being a kid, I have come to realize that this is one of life's many natural progressions. We all have to grow up (well, at least physically) sometime.
As I begin my first trek into this often cold world, I will carry my inner fire with me as I go. Wish me luck on this new beginning, and I pray the same for you.
