Today I am going to buy a new dress with Evangeline. She says I need to wear something that no one has ever seen before when I attend the annual spring dance at The Academy. I am
Snap! I paused, listening, then continued.
Not sure about this. I told her I didn’t want to go, but she told me that if I didn’t that she’d probably get lonely and bored by herself.
I stopped writing once more as I heard a sound coming from the bushes. A rabbit with fur the color of pale sunlight hopped out after I had watched the bushes cautiously for a few moments. I silently scolded myself and laughed aloud at my paranoia. I stood up from the picnic blanket I had laid out on the grass, walking slowly towards the fluffy rabbit. I crouched down, face-to-face with the adorable, long-eared thing. “You scared me, little bunny,” I said, whispering softly and using the same tone of voice I used around small children. The rabbit just stared back at me, not even blinking. I stood and began to walk back to the blanket. “Come, follow me!” a voice said gleefully. The voice was beautiful and sweet like music, but it definitely belonged to a man. I spun back around, franticly searching for the source of the mysterious voice. No one was there except for the rabbit. Surely the voice couldn’t have come from it! “Come, follow me!” The voice said again, sounding more frantic this time. That’s when I noticed it; the rabbit’s eyes staring straight at me, boring into me, beckoning me to follow. The rabbit’s nose twitched and it hopped towards a trail leading into the woods. Curiosity got the best of me and I followed the rabbit. I followed the off-white body of the rabbit, careful to not let the material of my blue sundress be torn by the branches of passing trees. Up ahead, a large hole opened up in the ground. The rabbit looked back at me momentarily and then jumped down the hole. I crouched on the ground next to the hole, peering down. Warm, gentle hands suddenly grasp my shoulders from behind. “I’m sorry about this, Alice” I gasped and looked behind me at a handsome man with hair the same pale blonde color of the rabbit’s fur. Then he pushed me down the rabbit hole...
