As if to prove Chris' point that more and more Pokémon were turning aggressive, a Scyther appeared from the trees and jumped directly at Chris. Something spurred in me and, driven by a desire to protect him, I jumped at it. But that seemed to be what it had hoped for, as it swiped at me and stole something from around my neck. It was a simple chain necklace with a gem that glowed and seemed to cycle all the colors of the rainbow. As it came off, the air temperature seemed to drop from a balmy 70 to a frozen 5.
"That was a legendary gem!" said Chris. "We can't let him have it! Hey, can I get you to help me get it back?"
"Sure!" I said. I ran off into the forest. I was determined to get it back with or without help. But I didn't get very far before I collapsed in the snow.
Chris caught up to me and stifled a chuckle. "An Umbreon doesn't usually go out during the day. We'd have better luck in the night. Come on, let's get some sleep."
All of a sudden, I did feel very tired. "Where do we sleep then?"
"Follow me."
We went back to where I woke up. He jumped up and pulled on a branch, and all of a sudden some snow melted away revealing a pond of very steamy water. "Come on," he said. "It's not cold."
"I can't remember how to swim."
"Oh, just hold your breath and trust me!"
He grabbed my leg and dragged me into the pool. It was indeed warm. I could feel a fast current and before I knew it, I was on a hot rock. I looked up and I could still see daylight and snow. But it was warm here. "Where are we?" I asked.
"Volcano cave. Don't worry, if the lava erupts it goes around us."
"That's comforting to know..."
"It's happened once before. Don't worry, this platform is completely safe. It's protected by a strange barrier."
"Alright. Sleep well!"
"Okay, you too!"
That day, I dreamed of what my own past was up to...
Yusei has something stolen from him that was keeping him warm in the snow... He tries to recover it, only to find out that Umbreons are nocturnal by nature.
