Hello. I decided today to point out some interesting facts about Playing Cards.
One thing I should point out is that there are 52 cards in a deck, 4 suits in a deck, 13 cards per suit, and 365 total of number markers in a deck.
I should also point out that there are 52 weeks in a year, 4 seasons per year, 13 weeks per season, and 365 days in a year.
The each king represents a real person;
King of Spades -> David
King of Hearts -> Charlemagne
King of Diamonds -> Julius Caesar
King of Clubs -> Alexander the Great
There are names for the Queens and Jacks, but I can't remember them.
For a long time, the King was the high card, but the Ace took over, symbolizing the lowest authority overthrowing royalty, according to Wikipedia.
In My theory, however, the Ace represents God, hence only there being one God, has absolute authority over royalty.
Long ago, in ancient cities, "Playing" cards were considered currency, hence how poker was born (at the time, it was simple gambling) according to Wikipedia.
There are lots of stories behind these cards. Which is why I enjoy them so much.
Our cards, the Dutch version, represent the Netherland Queens and inplaced the Kings with the royal castles presented in the whole country. Because Netherland doesn't have a King.
The game euchre is popular in the midwest United States (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania). It contains half of a pinochle deck, which is the same as 9s and higher from a poker deck. This amounts to 24 cards. The highest cards in euchre are the jack of trump and the jack of the same color as trump. These are known as the "bowers" (right and left, respectively), from the German word "bauer", meaning "farmer". In Germany, the jack cards are actually called "bauers", referring to peasants below the royalty. The game euchre can be considered to allude to the underlings overthrowing those more powerful. Now that I've explained all of that, let me move on...
The main character of the television show "24" is named Jack Bauer, who consistently "trumps" powerful enemies. The creator of "24" comes from Michigan, further alluding to the possibility of this being intentional.
This connection dawned on me a few years ago, so I jumped online to research it and found that many other people had been speculating the connection, as well.
