Several pieces of news pertaining to the 3DS have been released recently. Here's the down low:
Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed a few things about the games. Here are the biggest revelations:
-"It's a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64. It won't convey the message if I talk to you today, but if you play it at E3 that will give you more understanding of what I'm talking about."
- Super Mario 3D will include a fixed camera system, slightly like the one you saw in Super Mario 64, in which the camera does not move and Mario walks around on the screen
-"The tail you mentioned on the logo -- it's what you think it is. You probably know what's going to happen using that character."
-Nintendo hasn't decided whether the Tanuki Suit or the Raccoon Leaf will be what appears in the game.
- Super Mario 3D will be fully unveiled at E3 2011.
Among other news, Miyamoto discussed other topics such as his interest in an "A Link to the Past" remake, to the completion of the development of several big name games:
-Nintendo has wrapped up The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D's development. Translations are being tweaked.
- LoZ 3D will run at 30 frames per second on 3DS
- Master Quest mode lets you play in mirror mode
-StarFox 64 3D development is finished.
- The game will have the same name in all territories.
Here is some of the more miscellaneous bits of news:
-Nintendo is currently experimenting several entirely new 3D concepts
-Miyamoto is testing a game in which the player must discover which object is being displayed by moving it in different ways.
-For example, an object that looked like something could prove to be completely different once viewed in a different manner.
-The goal for Miyamoto is to use 3D to make the players feel surprised
- Nintendo is also testing a game in which an image is only visible to the left eye, and another image is only visible to the right eye.
-Miyamoto would use this original concept for a Ghost game in which the player would not necessarily see what is coming in front of him.
-Miyamoto loves ghost stories.
-Nintendo is considering a possible connectivity between the Nintendo 3DS and a future home console, where the Nintendo 3DS could be used as a controller.
-This, and many other ideas are being tested.
Lastly, Miyamoto warned to take all of the rampant "Project Cafe" rumors with a grain of salt. This barage of rumors is natural near the end of each console generation. He also had this to say about Nintendo's next home console:
...to us it is of course a logical step to doing something with HD. The number of households with a 3D television is now big enough to make an HD game console. And of course we are always busy anyway with the development of new consoles. We focus not only on HD and the next game will features something totally different than usual.
And that concludes this blog. :3
