Rahm Emanuel Savii→ Well, it's been so many years[1989-2011] that Chicago has had a new face in the top-spot: Mayor. Since stepping down, and announcing that he would not run for re-election, former Mayor Richard M. Daley is now being succeeded by for White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
After a very tense campaign -with Mr. Emanuel being kicked off the Ballot twice due to residency issues- Chicago finally has a new Mayor. His Tax Plan makes perfect sense, and he's been swapping out the majority of Daley's former Administration. A new Police Supt., most of City Hall being "swapped", a new Chicago Public Schools Supt, and a new CTA President. All of these changes have been made in order to better the City.
Regarding his Tax Plan, to quote Mr. Emanuel during the primary debates;
"A working mother should not have to pay as much for taxes on school supplies, for her children, or food for the family. A person who wants a manicure, a charter flight, a limosine, those are luxuries, and should be taxed higher. Lower taxes for basic needs, and raise taxes on luxuries."
I know it's a short Blog, but it means a lot to us Chicagoans to have a new order here. True, we're very set in our ways, but, our City needs to change in some ways, for the best.
I used to live in a little city in Florida called Valparaiso ("Vale of Paradise". This city was settled in the 1930s by the Chicago mob. An old brothel started by some mobsters later became a military prison when Eglin Air Force Base purchased much of the land from a pig farmer. It's an interesting history that has been buried by the city in recent time.
Rahm Emmanuel is the most corrupt politician I've seen in years. His actions and tactics are vile and have no place in any office of this great nation. Emmanuel is perfect for Chicago, a cesspool of mob thuggery. It's sad since I used to enjoy visiting Chicago as a child, viewing such sites as the Sears (Willis) Tower and Union Station.
