Alright, I've been putting this off for quite some time. But, I'm sick of this, so, I'm finally tapping this out. Blogs are for opinons, no?
As most of you know, I'm an Atheist. "Blasphemous, you're an idiot free-thinker", a somewhat older religious member might say. Well, shove it.
The reason why I'm an Atheist is somewhat cloudy, but the bigger factor is: You're not constrained mentally by certain boundaries. You won't be shunned and outcast anymore as an Atheist than as a Christian who 'sinned', so why not do something different?
Most days here, I run into someone quoting the Bible, or someone 'praying' for someone. What bugs me, is that these preachers -or as I call them, Jehova's Secretaries- are never told to stop. But, when I denounce God to them, I either get a warning, or a near-perma. I don't find this fair.
Now, not all Christians are bad. Some great people I know here are Christian, or Catholic. Waffle King, for example. He's one of the most sarcastic, open-minded Christians I know. I've had debates with others, such as Thecooldude01. He and I have debated, somewhat, over the Theory of Evolution. He didn't troll me, or anything. He's a good person.
But, it's these damn preachers. They're some of the most idiotic, offensive, vile things here. I'm not going to name any names of these people, as that would be disresctful... Perhaps.
But anyway, these people are not chastised for believing in something I don't, yet I am, for not believing what they do?
I suppose my point is, deep down, I won't denounce God and call you a kook directly to you. I respect your choice to be a part of a Religion.
However, why should you have the right to suck me back into somethingI hated and despised horribly? What makes you supeior to me?
That is all, I hope this brings my point across, and that this is fairly considered for Featuring.
also, if we all came from god, dna is useless. we would have been made differently [higher quality, perhaps] and chemical imbalances in the brain would be ruled out [that would be nice ] also, you could forget reproduction. god would make us all perfectly. no more dicks like brady cornhill [who, by the way, should watch his damn back. he has pushed me so far, almost to cracking point.] geedy people would not exist. and i dont think god would grant us free will.
i mean, as it is, humans dont have totally free will. unless somebody really pisses me off, i wont harm them [yes, i have a conscience, sadly. otherwise id be the perfect killing machine] because i can't. my brain won't let me.
i think humans have evolved. god is crap. just deal with it.
now, if youll excuse me, im both tired and just slightly drunk. sorry if this hasnt made sense.
you didn't respond, but i'll tell anyway. humans have four nostrils. two of which are on your nose, two of which on the roof of your mouth. this basically means that at one point we were fish. those nostrils would have been gills, then because we were land animals and had no use for gills became nostrils. however, we had no use of the second set and, if you look at bodies through the ages, these nostrils move across the roof of the mouth. they are linked with your nasal passageways.
I have nothing against atheist.
I'm a catholic, but tht doesn't mean i try to convince atheist to believe in God.
People should be able to believe what they want and not have to get in trouble because of it.
Other people/members should not try to "preach" to people who dont believe in that religion. Yes, you can have your own opinion about someone's religion, but sometimes I think it's best to keep it to yourself.
RoD undid his own argument with the gravity thing. the fact we are perfectly formed for gravity and our atmosphere proves we were not put here by some "divine being" as the atmosphere today is different to the atmosphere a millenium ago or further back. [cars, fumes etc]. evolution is exactly what happened, and in my opinion, is still happening. i mean, think about it- we are constantly developing new ways of thinking about the universe- if thoughts and theories, as well as emotions and feelings, can evolve, who is to say that we cannot evolve too? also, RoD, i CAN state something that has evolved- the human race. i have lots of evidece for this. one peice is that the ligament in the calf muscle is longer on a neanderthal than today's equivalent [humans. i could make a simile joke, but it would be politically incorrect.] this enables us to run faster than them, and backs up the adaptation theory. [we had to run every day, this makes life easier.]
if you dont like that evidence, i have proof that will blow you away. respond if you wanna hear it.
@Hull: Thank you, and I agree. As Waffle said below, forcing one's Religious beliefs down another's throat, without asking to be teached, ought to be a Sin, or to me, a Crime. It besmirches the image of whatever they're trying to preach, and it goes for both Atheists and Religious people.
The Ram - This was a well thought out and executed blog. Obviously we disagree on beliefs, but I am giving a thumbs up on the way it is presented.
As for all the comments below, isn't it better to not shove any religious beliefs on other people, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, athirst, etc.? It's also not a good idea to mock religious views of others because that just makes the mocker sound like a complete fool. I've always believed it's best to live by example and answer questions when asked.
Viruses constantly adapt, and are an excellent example of Evolution. They're predators, [anti- and pro-biotics,] make them force-adapt to their surroundings, and any survivors of a medicine bombardment, breed and are much stronger. That's why you ought to finish the prescription.
Evolution takes longer than 150 years usually.. but I'm sure there's been viruses that have evolved maybe since then.. I don't really want to get into this because it's all too long and blah, but yeah. There's also something to do with the peppered moth I think it is.. changing it's wing colours or something but maybe that's considered micro-evolution
Read this so that you may believe. Hell, if you are blind to fact because I am Christian, look at me as a Biology major! Same facts are involved!
No offence Ram, but really?! Inter-species breeding?! Unless a scientist manually extracts genes and injects them into another animal it impossible by natural means (And would never work long term or short term by the scientist example).
And Gleeok, I hate to say it. But you're right. If Creationism is people coming from mud, then yes, by all means that is complete BS. Sadly (on your part), that is not Creationism. So that whole statement is invalid.
I love this! I've posted an entire paragraph explaining how Genes and slowly turning into another species is impossible and you all throw out that we all came from water born pathogens.
I'll say it again, listen this time. In order for AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF CHANGE (Evolution) Genes will have to be added to the individual animal's genetic code. Which is impossible. And hey! Not just Genes! Also alleles! The information for the genetic code. Without means to add information to every animals genetic code there is no progression in it as a species at all! Water born pathogens we came from? They stay the same. Human race has been here since the beginning of time, we all know how though we don't want to admit it.
Add information? Mutation! Wrong! A mutation doesn't even carry information for an entire species to become something else. If I'm wrong show me where somewhere in the last 150 years the changing of a species actually occurred! I dare you!
Next thing you know you'll throw some useless example where cats with curly tales were bred over and over and it became a new breed of house cat. This isn't an entire species changing. This is Micro-evolution which does exist. Not even something that is remotely close to evolution.
Fact?
Right now, the force of gravity is set precisely at a certain point along this incredibly long continuum. As a result, life on earth can flourish! Great right!? But pretend the dial setting for the force of gravity were to be moved, by just one single solitary inch.
IMMEDIATELY, the impact on life in the Universe would be catastrophic! Animals anywhere near the size of human beings would be instantly crushed. Even insects would need thick legs to support themselves, and animals much larger couldn't survive. And that's just from moving the dieal setting a mere inch compared to the width of the entire universe. Gravity is just one factor that scientists have studied. One expert said there are more than thirty separate factors that require precise calibration in order for life to be possible in the universe.
It's no surprise that even some of the most inteligent experts and Evolutionist have denounced their views as it is simply impossible that the earth and life as we know it was created by mere chance.

Check the blogs section friends, this will be a blog response.
I feel ya. Some people just take religion way too far n take the bible way too seriosly. I'm kinda cristain too and I even think those so called "preachers" are crazy. Heck those baptist guys are just stupid. You shouldn't force religion on people.
Scientists recently discovered that the genome is seperated into several parts or something. I might make a blog explaining it after I learn the details.
It may further explain EVOLUTION.
What proves oceans are getting saltier time by time at this supposed creationism rate that in millions of years they would be lifeless*
I would tell my points about mutation. life..etc..But i'm to lazy to write it all. Honestly...i'll just leav this rustic and superficial thoughs about evolutionism and see what happens.
We, Humans. Simply came out of...mud and done, perfect, etc?
of course no..
Primitive forms of life started in water, and became other primitive forms (like sponjes..) and though evolution and variation, reached complex forms of life. Until how we see the word today. There is absolutely no point something gets formed like creationism tells....
Earth with a few thousands of years? Absolutely no "fact" proving evolutionism? Well, maybe not...but there is a (and there are, probably several) fact(s) that proves creatinism wrong.
Oceans salty in periods of millions of years? Wait. what proves the oceans are getting saltier time by time? How you prove wrong that tectonical plaques moving at the known rate, today Did Not form several different continents in peiords of millions of years? How do you prove wrong the word we see today and what we hypotetically judge "balanced" weather, continental, atmospheric and elemental actual states didn't form through the million of years supposed by evolutionism, as the rate they "evolue" today is known? and is very slow. (of course, thats how the "earth with millions of years" hypotesis was made...) connecting with the evolution of life..etc..
but ...Honestly..., believe in what you want, i know what i believe and thats all.
A mutation can't occur without the small genetic link being there in the first place. Mutation alone can't create a new kind of being.
Mutation is Micro-evolution, not macro-evolution.
If Mutation is the excuse, I scoff at that.
And you know what's funny as hell? I have intimate knowledge of both ways the earth could have been created. I side with God as Evolution is NOT fact AND has NEVER been proved. And frankly, I would rather die and have a possibility of living forever than dying forever. What's the worst that could happen? I'm being optimistic and rather live this way.
Story of my life. Russian, moved to US at 3. Athiest, became Christian through my own curiosity. Going to a Junior college. Taking advanced Biology and Calculus. Studying to become an AE Engineer. If you understand Biology even that alone is enough to prove that.
Hmmm. I'm open-minded in the sense that, if God were to come to me and prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt he is what he claims, I would believe in him. I may not worship him, but I'd definitely believe in him.
As for the whole "evolutionist vs creationist" thingymajig, no offense anyone, but I think that the idea of creationism is laughable. Evolution is true, it's as true as any other fact.
Do organisms acquire freak mutations occasionally? Yep.
Are organisms capable of inheriting freak mutations from parents? Yes.
If a mutation should happen to be a useful one, are the offspring who inherited the mutation more likely to survive than those who didn't? Yes.
Over time, if this is the case, is it likely the mutated species will become more common than the original? Yes.
Eventually, if this pattern follows, the mutation is passed along so much that the entire species (or a large amount of it) has acquired it to some degree. This is the birth of a new species.
With some logic and a little common sense, it's obvious that evolution must be true really.
Actually, Waste, A lot of the biggest Christians and Creationists were atheists. When they decided to investigate the "Lie" called Christianity by reading the bible. They themselves were converted because they learned the truth. No help from a "brainwashing" church or preacher needed.
Ahh, nicely done Rambo. I hate when others force a belief upon another. It should be considered a sin. Or crime, if you'd like. For, when you force a belief upon another, you are pervading their very mind and soul. To educate is one of the greatest deeds one can do, but to force ideas into one is to ruin what makes them an individual. You are taking away what makes them human.
no one that has ever lived can 100% have the right to say their religion is true and that its real. no one can know if god is real. no one at all. it doesnt matter how many "facts" you may have. no one will know until the day that they die. its possible god exists. its possible he does not. t can not be proven. sayin that he is real or fake is straight beliefs. not facts. it doesnt matter if you dont agree to this. there is just no proof to say that god truely exists or doesnt.
When you have time respond to my comment then. And I would be more self aware of the world's beggining if I were you. It's hard to argue with someone who can't support their views.
@RoD: Well-Explained, but, I can't exacttly respond to that from DSi. Also, I'm not too big on Ceationist Vs. Evolutionist debates. I'm not overtly interested in how Earth was made, although, I should be.
@Luigi: If I take a look at roughly 60% of Blogs on some profiles, they're about 'how Christ helped save me'. They're poorly written, which is why they're not accepted. But enough about site policy...
I'm not going to explain why God isn't real in my perspective. He may be real to you, but I don't give a damn.
Miracles? Mere coincidences. A child being born? That's quite scientific, not smoke-and-mirrors.
Not breaking your neck in acar crash" Seatbelt, hurrdurr.
What's under my nose is a dusty old book whose reign is still running, and quite a pet peeve of mine. By preaching to me, you're making most Christians look terrible.
Macroevolution: The hypothesis (HYPOTHESIS!) of macroevolution assumes that a given life form has an unlimited ability to change. This means that some process must exist to ADD information to the creature's genetic code. After all, a creature's ability to change is limited by the information iin the genetic code. There are only a certain number of genes and alleles of those genes. There is therefore only a certain number of possible variations in genotype and therefore a limited number of possible phenotypes. Thus, in order to get an unlimited amount of change, a creature must somehow find a way to add genes and alleles to its genetic code! This is something altogether different from microevolution.
Even under Evolution's hypothesis it is impossible. I will look at this through the eyes of an evolutionist.
If Evolution itself cannot be proved it is no better a explanation for life than the Bible. (Assuming you have never read it.)
Microevolution is in fact true, it has little to do with Darwin's theory of evolution. Microevolution explains that the variation is our and animal's genetic code is what causes small changes. This very genetic code which God gave us is what makes us able to have children of different color and physical appearance. This same genetic code is what makes dogs able to change! And cats! Its what gives us the ability to have different kinds of chicken and steak! If you think for one second that fish slowly of gazillions of years change into lizards you have a serious problem. The earth itself is only 15-20 thousand years old. Not 65 million... Infact, if the world was that old the salt oceans we have today would be so corrupted with salt that they would be nothing more than big salt blocks. Completely uncapable of life.
In a counter to this you could say that oceans may not have existed, this however would completely change how our world is to this day if this were true. So it's only logical that we assume we have had salt oceans since the beginning.
@Tora: Relax bro, she's actually wrong. What your friend ought to have said, is she's Agnostic. To me, Agnostics are essentially the Bisexuals of Religion Vs. Atheism, and furthermore, Undecided Voters to Republicans Vs. Democrats.
[See what I did there? oFTo]
@Tia: I'm going to make a point here and say, just to clarify, I don't go around yelling "GOD IZNT R3ALZ ZOMG". Unless provoked, I'm not going to debate. I'll make jokes, of course, but otherwise, I'm not preaching Science to everyone.
@RoD: I gotta say, I do enjoy our quarrels. They're certainly interesting.
Actually, my fuel for this is because some Christians are absolute pests. Like-wise, there are plenty of Atheists, Jews, Muslims, ETC who are 'pests' in eachother's eyes. My fuel for this is having it shoved down my throat by so many members. Why I don't believe in God is another story.
Also, 'perfect' is one of the silliest words known. One thing can be 'perfect' only in it's own right. Compare something else to that same standard, it won't be called 'perfect'.
I think I've addressed the majority of your comment, RoD. Too tired to check, but I look forward to a srong debate.
@Epic: Agreed. It's not fair, to an extent.
@Teh: Doubly agreed.
Huh, -1, you say? [Initiate YouTube joke: # of dislikes]"4 People saw the light, and it told them to dislike or face eternal damnation in Hell."
Did I mention YouTube annoys me?
I'm a christian and i don't mind Athiests. What does bother Athiests and me a little is those Crazy Christian guys. they only do it because long ago a pastor told me to try to get people to believe in god but i tried that once to my BEST friend in the world and it didn't work so i gave up. i'm still christian but i swear sometimes and open-minded. But anywho
RoD- I have never agreed with you more before.
By the way, today in school, a friend of mine told me she was an Atheist, but she believed in God. She just thought religion is stupid. (She said to the nearly Over-Zealous Christian.) Now, am I confused about Atheism, or is she just wrong?
Yeah, I hate it when people with A different religion shove their beliefs down my throat. Obviously, I don't mind Atheists, Christians, Buddhists, etc. I just hate it when try tellme why I should believe something.
Lol. Honestly, I love all your blogs, I really wish I could have been the one to accept this. You and I have had some arguments, I thirst for this, I was made for arguing.
Nope.jpg was right to some extent in the Embrace our Differences blog. I certainly am full of myself, it's one of my less desirable qualities. I hope to change this in the future.
My response to the Blog: All of this is opinion, so there's no need to get offensive people. Unfortunately for you, that's all this is, opinion. I see no facts. While this may be a problem to you, it may not be a problem to anyone else. It seems your issue is the fact that Christians are annoying and wrong right?
While that may be true, it does not change the fact that God is the true. Just because a Christian is wrong and is screwed up does not mean that the one they follow is bad. If it makes it any easier to understand, think of it this way. If kids are horrible and misbehave, does this mean that their parents are always horrible? nope, not at all.
If your fuel for this is that God does not exist because Christians are messed up and don't care about how you feel. Than it would be right to assume that the opposite is true.
God exist if Christians are always perfect.
My point is, Christians may be messed up and annoying. But this should not become a barrier from never becoming saved and living forever. Because, God is the Truth. We his followers are not.
Agreed, I hate how the moment an atheist starts "preaching" their "belief" to a christian, it's all of a sudden a bad thing, yet nobody complains when christians preach to Atheists. We're each just as entitled to our respective opinions. If the christian is saying stuff like "GOD EXISTS PERIOD," they aren't giving the atheist one shred of respect, and so should not expect any back.
Well, what is a "sin" to an Atheist? It just means a crime to a select group of people.
If I'm doing something wrong, call it a "crime", not a "sin". For me, anyway.
@Commander: I know, I had intended to put you next to Waffle King up there, but, I had no room to make sense of it. It would've been half-a-line, jump to next paragraph. But anyway, you're the kind of logical Christian that I can enjoy a conversation with. You're not constantly saying, "I'll pray for you". That's what bugs me.
I agree to this, to an extent.
I have no problems with atheists. We were not put on this Earth to tell each other what to believe.
Me and Ram, for being atheist and Christian, actually et along when just talking to each other. I actually have more conflicts with other Christians than I do with other religions.
I do read the bible. But, as much as I like the Old Testament, I don't believe in it.
In fact, neither did Jesus. He, according to the Book of Matthew, corrected most of the scripture from the Old Testament. I look at the Old Testament as more of a story book.
Despite being a Christian, I am a highly logical thinker. Everything has to have a reason to exist, that's one of my logic rules. I'm also very spiritual, non-religiously. And I am very open minded.
