It has recently come to my attention that there are some misconceptions about the employment issues in the United States of America.
We have been seeing growing unemployment rates over the past few years. Therefore, many people turn to the government for unemployment. They end up getting money through the government, sometimes even more than a job would offer. This decreases motivation to find a job.
Let's take a deeper look on the subject though. First, the government is NOT there to give money to people without a job. You may think, "But I won't get any income if they don't pay me". There is a simple solution to this problem: Find a job! Now, another thought may run through your head, "I can't find one because nobody is hiring!" Listen, the United States is a great country, with freedom to choose the field you wish to go into. Many people are limited to thinking that they must have an employer. This is not the case; self-employment is an opportunity within reach. Become an entrepreneur, start a business. This can range from reselling products, creating products, or offering services, and that's just the beginning.
If you don't have the desire to find a physical location, start online. But whatever you do, leave the government out of the unemployment system!
Learn to provide for yourself, rather than depending on someone or something else. There are always ways to make money; go find one!
@3ds: TOTALLY RELEVENT, YOU SHOULD MAKE A BLOG REGARDING IT.
Anyway... I agree, as my Mom is working at a Chiropractor's clinic, using that to balance us as we get our Granola Business started.
As far as I know, we've never been on Welfare or the sort.
Someones you have to do what you can to survive. For a while, I was working pizza deliveries and driving limos and Savant was selling clothing. Our combined income let us survive and kept us motivated. We didn't depend on the government for anything. While all this was going on, I searched for a better paying job. Eventually I landed one as a Web developer, and I still work at the same company to this day. If you don't give up, you will succeed.
