I wanna point something out that has been bugging me lately...
See guys, when you go to a group, you see a Shout box. Yeah, yeah, you go and say hi, after 10 seconds or so, you refresh and someone says hi. Now you ask who made this group, blah blah blah, etc. etc. etc. 5 minutes later of asking about the group, the topic changes. Now it's like a normal chat. You guys are like "Hey how are you? I'm fine thanks!" but the real thing you're doing is flooding people's Alert Box with spam...spam they don't want...they're not chatting with you, so they're getting annoyed by your "chat." I seriously think it's annoying. I log in to my account, see that I have a new message, scroll down to the Alert Box, notice it's filled with Shout from (Member here). Where did my message go? I go to my Inbox (I'm grounded so I don't have my DSi anymore), which takes like a MINUTE to load on my PC, see the message, reply, the next day, new message, Alert Box filled with spam...
So, please, guize, next time, when you want to go chat, just tell the person, "Hello, you wanna chat? Meet me at Chatroom Luigi(for example)." They go, chat for 3 hours straight, and have a good time. Now, when you go to a group, you DON'T chat in the Shoutbox. You just put updates about the group (if you were the owner), say how cool it looks like, or who's the person that owns the group (if the CSS design doesn't show it), or ask about certain stuff in the group. Not talk about your daily life and stuff like that.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but this seriously is getting on my nerves, and I'm 100% sure it's not only me the one getting annoyed.
Some people find it as "spam."
Justin, Spam is against the rules, if you want to chat, go to Chatrooms. Simple as that. Or you're too lazy to move your hand, eh.
the well, i feel if the 2 people are chatting about something that all the members need/should know (ex. a "meeting" for the groups that are "organizations" or an rp for the rping groups, but those still dont happen all that much)
PKMN Challenge has assulted my alerts so hard.
I agree with you there. If you want to chat, go to a CHATroom. If you want to shout group-related stuff, the go to a GROUP SHOUTbox.
Thanks for the support, everyone.
Bradley, Number one, don't use the word retarded, as it's a really bad word. Second of all, Group shouts were made so you can be updated about the group and all that crap, not for chatting. Why were chatrooms called chats? Obv. because you CHAT in it, unlike the Shoutbox, where you shout stuff to the people in your group so they can see it unless it goes down, unless you and some other people chat and wash away all the important things.
@bradleybrown1198 Nice ad hominem argument going on there. Alerts DO matter to some people. Simply because they do not interest YOU is irrelevant when considering the whole community. Alert spam is very discourteous to other users and is quite annoying to many.
And bringing up chatrooms does nothing for your nonexistent point. Two things: In chatrooms, if you're tired of people "invading your conversations" (which this blog has nothing to do with), you can simply block them. However, the only way to block alerts is to block them all from being seen.
He isn't telling you what to do per se, simply a suggestion that the majority here in the community would heartily enjoy.
Was I callous? Yes and I dam somewhat apologetic, but I do not take back my what I've said.
@Bradley: They can do the same in a Group. -.- Furthermore, it DOES matter. As a constant Blogger, I like to know when I get a comment. And also, you[I'm assuming you do it] morons push away any important Shouts made by creators or important group members. -.-
Oh my freaking gosh. Are you retarted. Shoutboxes are almost exactly like chatboxes and so what if it fills up your alerts, big deal. your alerts dont even matter. Dont tell people what to do just cuz you dont like seeing people use the chatbox. Besides, in chatrooms people can invade your conversation.
