Hello, I am a student at Interwebs University here to inform you today about downloads and pop-up ads.
Usuually we download various things, from games to browser add-ons. However, when you do download games and add-ons, there is a risk that you might accidentally download a virus that will mess up your computer. If you do that, you'll either have to fix it yourself, get someone with experience to fix it, or even get rid of the computer. An easy, safe solution, is to buy the game at the store, or play it online, on a website. These are safer because they require no downloads. So if you want to get a game, downloading is a last resort. It shouldn't even be on your list of ways to get it. However, it will be less dangerous if you have the correct tools, like spyware. As long as your computer is up-to-date, it will be okay to download something, but don't do that first. See if you can find the game anywhere else.
Now on to pop-up ads.
You've probably seen them before, pages that pop-up when you open a website. They usually are offering free arrows, and other free computer stuff. However, they are just like the downloads; in fact, they usually have to be downloaded. And that means they have a risk of viruses. When you see it, ask yourself: "Do I really need this stuff?" Usually you don't. With the arrows for example, you'll be the only one who sees them, and they may hurt your eyes because they're flashing and rainbow.
So, now that you know about downloads and pop-up ads, I guess my work here is done. Stay safe on the internet.
Flaming- Yeah... Whoops.
Nope- Someone already wrote this blog? I wrote this as an assignment for Interwebs University... I used no other blogs as my source of information.
