Derek leaned on the wall at his friend James's party. He wasn't supposed to be out tonight, the feeling he had that morning was enough. Derek had felt something wrong would go on tonight, and he learned to listen to those feelings. But Erica, one of Derek's best friends, had dragged him there. "Derek! Come dance, silly!" yelled Erica. She walked over there and smiled. "I don't dance, Erica. You know that," responded Derek. Erica pulled him into the dancing area and started slowly swaying. "Erica. I'm not dancing!" She shrugged, and hugged Derek. "Let's just have a good time, okay? I'm always doing nothing. Everyone calls me a good little Daddy's girl! Tonight I'll prove 'em wrong" slurred Erica. Derek could smell the alcohol on her breath and scoffed. "I don't like you drunk" he said, walking off. About thirty minutes passed by and then there was a knock at the door that was blocked by music. Derek heard it though and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. "No no no." The door the busted open and four men ran through. Everyone screamed and ran out, and that's when they pulled out huge lighters and another pulled out a gas can. The one with gas smirked at Derek, and poured gasoline everywhere around the house, and then the fire appeared. The men were gone and Derek looked for anyone who might still be there, then he looked down. There was a heart shaped necklace burning in the ground. The very one Derek gave Erica for her birthday. A tear shaped in his eye, and he ran out with no burns and only a tattered shirt. The firemen and police came, and they put Derek in the back of the squad car. They thought HE did it and that HE held the party! But he said not a word until his parents were called. "Mom it was James's party. Erica dragged me to it!" Derek explained over the phone. "Explain the fire. Was there smoking involved?" asked his mom. "No mom. These men just showed up and lit it up like a bonfire!" Derek eventually hung up the phone and quietly waited...
