According to the great part of gaming news sites which reported about 3DS sales today, there was an increase of more than 50% worldwide weekly, solid numbers are not available yet for Americas and EU but a "timid" report that after the price drop there was an increase of ~80% in sales for Aqua Blue system in Amazon (US) and more or less the same value for the Cosmo Black System.
"Radio Nikkei reports that Nintendo 3DS sold 207,000 units between 8-14 August, thanks to the price drop. This is the second highest weekly sales for the machine, beating out the second week after launch (206k)."
Don't forget this data is based on a date taking into account only 3 days after the official price drop.
According to VGChartz.com, predictions are that the 3DS system sold (or will sell) 300.000 units this week worldwide.
Very fresh info has just surfaced:
(according to vgchartz.com) the 3DS sold 57,845 units in USA as of 13th august, just behind the xbox 360 which sold 74,277 units in the same period. Official Info on Japan and EU sales is not yet available.
After Sony announcing a PS3 price drop ($250 USD) in Gamescom 2011, they also Just announced, today, that a Non-Wifi PSP version will be released this fall in Europe, priced at 99$ EUR obviously in response to 3DS's price drop, stuff is heating, right? The device will look like its previous cousins but will feature a "Matte" grip (perhaps just like the DSi) and will not have Wifi connectivity. Until now Sony has said it will only be available in Europe, the remake is named "PSP E-1000".
