I sucked in a sharp breath and steadied myself, willing my eyes to stay open, a task I found to be a little difficult. I grit my teeth, holding back a shriek of pain. They were everywhere. Escape wasn't an option. I was going to be killed at the hands of my mothers best friend.
But not without delivering some seriously good punches.
"You and I both know you can't win this, Melanthea." he drawled. I felt my blood boil with blinding hatred. I couldn't believe this. Fabian tried to get to his feet, but winced and collapsed. Peter was unconscious. Kellan was... Well, a little incapable of helping at the moment. I had no way to reach Seth, Justin or even Drake. Eliana and Amber were the ones I was trying to save and James... I'd be lucky if I ever saw him again. All that silver... More anger boiled in my veins. My vision went red with fury. My shoulders heaved like I was throwing something heavy and-
Wait. Am I going too fast for you? Sorry, I've never been any good at this story telling buisness. It's just not my thing. Even so, starting from the beginning would be a good idea, wouldn't it? I thought so. Right.
You're going to have to bear with me, because as I said before, this just isn't my forte. But, this story is difficult to tell. There really isn't a definite beginning and there isn't a definite end. I don't really know where to begin, so I'll just wing it and start with how this all kicked off. With the death of my mother.

The Egyptian god of death, Anubis, was angry. Very angry. He unleashed his wrath on the people of the world. Everywhere, people were dying. My mother had to go to The Temple of Anubis, better known as the House of Death and find a way to stop him. There was only one way. A trade, the life of a hero in place of all the lives he would have ended. If she gave herself up, the rest of the world would prosper.
What would you have done?
She accepted. She gave her life to Anubis. People stopped dying. Things went back to normal.
Except for me.
I was forced to live with my stepfather, who frankly, just doesn't like me. Heck if I know why. He eventually got remarries, to a shy timid woman named Diana. She doesn't hate me. I would go so far as to say she loves me. I now have two stepbrothers, Sam and Jeb, and I love them dearly.
Abd who am I? I am Melanthea Rose Gracewelle. I'm fourteen years old. I'm the daughter of Lilac Gracewelle and a man I never knew.
And this is my story. The story if how a couple of kids solved a mystery, saved a life and managed to live to see another day...
