Ever since Atari released the very popular Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, they're promised the fans "there's going to be more to the series" and "we're making a fourth game".
Time and time again, RCT4 has never even been mentioned by Atari since early 2010, and the supposed RCT Movie has had no news since it was announced more than a year ago, leading some to believe Sony Animation has canceled the project for good.
As mentioned above, they promised a fourt game. But throughout all this, Atari's RCT3 forum was completely decimated by corrupt admins, leading a large exodus of RCT3 players to various other communities. This has lead many members to refer to Atari and Atari's failure to act on the forum as iratA.
Atari has constantly abandoned their community and has infuriated everyone again with their latest debacle:
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3DS
Why would this infuriate us?
The sceenshots reveal several major problems.
1. The lack of scenery. The game contains no building scenery, one of the best things about RCT series has been the ability to create buildings using scenery.
2. The coasters contain NO banked turns. We all no RCT has never been perfectly realistic, nobanked turned is just a ridiculous cheap out.
3. The game is just a "lite" version of RCT3. While the game will contain several new features and be developed by N-Space, unless some changes are made, Atari will once again has infuriated their very vocal fanbase, many of which have been playing the game for 10+ years, like me.
I really want this game to be good, but the way things are looking down, the RCT community has yet another reason to be mad at iratA.
I remember I gave my life away to RCT. I used to somehow love making really insane rollercoasters where the rack leads into the water.XD. I finished it too. Oh, and RCT3 was kind of....bad. Hope RCT4 isn't all that bad....
I used to play RCT for hours on end, and then I got RCT2, in addition to two of it's expansions. I also played Chris Sawyer's Locomotion, my all-time favorite game of that small collection. RCT3 ruined what I loved about the first two.
Anyway, you never know. They might strike gold, just like Microsoft did with AoE: DS.
My favorite "Tycoon" game is "Trailer Park Tycoon", but I've enjoyed the older "Roller Coaster Tycoon" games, as well. Since this one is not due until March 2012, I'll have to wait and see before deciding whether or not to get it.
The reason it is so critical is because of the way Atari treated the community, like crap. They shut down the origina forum, and attempted to wipe all past forums and start anew...with several new admins that went corrupt faster than an Olympic Runner in a 100 meter dash.
