Welcome back, to Your Computer and You, (The Reason I haven't been posting these is cause my DSi Got Stolen out of my backpack)

BUT ANYWAY.

This Issue: Open Source, what is it, Is it good, Bad, LEGAL?

I. Ok, What is Source?

Source- The main coding for a program, website, or OS.

II. Ok, Open Source?
------------------------------

Open Source- The act of making source open to the public, so everyone can edit it as they please.

Open source can include everything such as Media Players, Audio Recorders, Browsers, even OS's!

III. Some examples:

VLC (A Free Media Viewer) -All OS-

Linux (OPERATING SYSTEM) -This is a Wiki, there are many types of Linux-

Open Source is completely legal, as long as the owner of the program allows it to be distributed freely.

Most Programs are under the GNU public Licence (Which can be read here:

This is what I did.

1. Explained the definitions of what Open Source is, Gave examples.

2. Gave info about each subject.

Audacity allows you to re-format corrupted music files to make them work again xP

But there will always be programs like this. you can see all the coding using notepad. theres too much info for music so it would glitch for a sec. but looking at that, its too hard to code manually. thats why people make it easyer with programs.

Just saw a Open-source CPU on BestBuy's website yesterday consequently. Intel of cource, could be Over-clocked to 4GHz.
