I feel sorry for you. It seems that you have soooo many fake Christians in your life. This is a problem. I agree that Christians can be stupid and pushy, even I am, but those people either have been taught wrong or are not really Christian. I am not saying we are perfect. We don't always live up to what we teach/believe. It is the sad truth that no one can be perfect/sinless. Even us. But it also true that Christians are very pressured. I am not saying this an excuse for thier behavior but still, if someone comes up to me, my first reaction would not be to forgive them, I would probably immediately punch them back. It is self defense- A natural human reaction. And if you actually want to hear my unpublished blog about how Science proves there is a God please ask me sometime. I don't want to sound pushy or goodie-goodie, but being a Christian is so much different than what you think. I am honored and proud of my Savior, and my title---Christian.

The actions of those Christians are not 'selfish'.

One of the goals of a Christian is to spread the good word of God and His Son, and hopefully convert others in the process.

They aren't selfish, they just want more followers for their religion.

Same thing goes for other religions.
It's a constant battle to convert everyone to have them 'join' you, just so that the other religioms don't have you.

Closed-minded and ignorant comments like yours are what frustrate me with atheists. Have you ever read the Bible, the Quran, or any religious works, or do you just state what people have told you? Do you realize that many religious stories are actually allegories or parables for moral teachings? The stories are not meant to be taken literally but are, instead, meant to explain the world to simple people of the time who would not explain, otherwise. Just look at Jesus' apostles; these guys were bumbling fools, not educated elites. Jesus had to explain things to them numerous times to get the messages through their thick heads.

The reason I am a Christian is because when I looked at all the facts, I realized it would take MORE faith to NOT believe in a higher power. The universe, to me, is a vast place just too elegant to have happened by chance. A good documentary about this for anyone with an open mind is "The Case for Jesus Christ". In this, an atheist decided to look at all the facts because he wondered why his wife started attending Church. After travelling the world and speaking with all sorts of experts, he came to his conclusion to become a Christian.

Reading all of these will take forever,so I will tell you something my brother and I talked about.Arguing is telling some one they are wrong.Debating is showing the other people their opinons.What I've read is argue,argue,argue/some opinion.Also, people argue because there minds are different from expirence.If you were christian and then a friend died from cancer(sorry dude)and you chaged it's from what has happed to you.Say if you were christian and your friend never died by cancer or something like that you wouldn't change because they had never experienced that.I'm not atheist but I don't believe in anything special.That is my opinon.

Both are made up. Both are used for entertainment. And both people obsess over.

Anyways, I literally hate it when people bash their boxing gloves against others because of religion. Take the Westboro Baptists. Protesting about funerals saying their rude signs isn't helping everyone. Even when Steve Jobs death they used iPhones to say the same hatred message to all. Even in May(correct the month if you could) they used protest signs to bash a militant's proper burial. Now I only read Joshua once. God sent his people to war with Canaan to protect them from idolarity. So they're getting it all wrong. Now I like the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' because it the way I see it, it's not your mom trying to shove baby food down your throat anymore. So to rap it all up, I really don't like it when people want you to believe with them. It's your own choice.

One of the reasons i'm not religious, is the sheer number of religions that exist, and all of the gods people worshipped in the past. Why are they not worshipped now? They were gods, weren't they? They can't go away. We just keep making up new religions and stories and gods. It's unlikely any of them are true since there seems to be thousands, maybe millions that people have invented.

here is my point of view, if there was no oxygen when this world started how does life exist. even if there was oxygen, how did life come to be. when earth started it was just a bunch of rocks being squished together. i still haven't decided if i believe, i just want answers. i'm not trying convert you, i think religioun should be a dont ask dont tell thing. we all have our own beliefs, and anyone who thinks that one belief is supperior then they just don't believe it themselfs. not even my priests think that christianity is supperior.

Kingpin- Christianity is a composite of even older pagan religions.

And atheists have different theories. The most common is the big-bang. And we don't know exactly how life began. There are different theories of varying reliability, but we still need to do more digging.

Just because we don't believe in god doesn't mean we know exactly why everything attributed to him happened. Ancient Egyptians believed Ra rode the sun across the sky, but now we understand the solar system we know better.

With time will hopefully come more understanding. Unless we blow ourselves up beforehand.

Also, his teen years were recorded in different books.
The bible was compiled by different books written about these things, including Jesus. Like a compilation album. Not all the songs in one album can be compiled, only one or two tracks.
There are many books of Jesus' teen and childhood years. I have some of the books. There are more than just 4 gospels you know.
The compiler(s) of the New Testament just only compiled the important books of Christ.

Most religions have similar roots. Christians, Jews, and Muslims, all from the Abrahamic traditions with the deity named YHWH, commonly called "God", "Jehovah", "Allah", or "LORD", today (with the name differing by language or denomination). Buddhism branched from Hinduism as a reformation. The list goes on.

If you hav specific questions about stories, let me know, and I can provide information to you. The documentary I mentioned is good, too.

If anyone else can recommend good documentaries, let me know.

The reason I am a Christian is because when I looked at all the facts, I realized it would take MORE faith to NOT believe in a higher power. The universe, to me, is a vast place just too elegant to have happened by chance. A good documentary about this for anyone with an open mind is "The Case for Jesus Christ". In this, an atheist decided to look at all the facts because he wondered why his wife started attending Church. After travelling the world and speaking with all sorts of experts, he came to his conclusion to become a Christian.

I agree there. From my perspective, I have seen the religion of atheism spread so much hatred. Many atheists push their dogma toward those with other religious beliefs. In that same way, I know that many people get frustrated by Christians. For anyone who has Netflix, check out the documentary "Jesus, Save Me From Your Followers". It's a great film for Christians and non-Christians alike because it exposes hypocrisy on both sides and knocks down the misconceptions people have of each other.

It's funny, because I used to be religious. I went to church semi-regularly, followed all of the "rules," and was a good little Christian. That changed when I saw a good friend of mine get cancer and wait 5 months for it to slowly rip him apart and kill him.

I'm sorry, but I can't believe in a god that lets people die slowly and painfully, and demands that we have unwavering faith in him even though he's a hypocrite and contradicts himself all the time.

I have read the bible to give religion a chance, but not to be mean or anything my summary of the bible is...

God created man, man was bad, god punished man by leaving, man was bad again, god flooded man, man was bad again, black plague, man do more bad stufffff, and then it says, you will go to heaven as long as you don't sin, welll pretty much everythings a sin..... I personally believe that the man whom told everyone this was just saying it so that he would be treated like a king.
