Well, I decided to come outta the woodwork when I saw this.
Most North American players--those who didn't import the game and have the Homebrew Channel to play it-- have been missing out on a rather fantastic game because Nintendo (well, technically Nintendo of Japan) didn't believe it would be a fruitful effort to release the game here. They have thankfully come to their senses. Announced via their Facebook page, Xenoblade Chronicles will be released across the pond next year, with Gamestop listing it for April 3rd.
I myself imported the game back in October and have been playing on my friend's Wii, though my busy schedule has only allowed me to play about 2-3 hours off the game. Even with such little play time, I can firmly say that this is possibly the best RPG of this generation. And while I dislike review scores in general and review aggregate sites like MetaCritic (even though I review for it; ironic?), the majority of those that have played it and reviewed it appear to have come to a similar conclusion, resulting in its MetaCritic score of 92, universal acclaim.
I am quite impressed with the scale of the game's environments. The art style looks nice, and though the graphics are someone dull up close, I haven't been bothered by them. Oh and I LOVE the music I've heard thus far. Of course, I like Skyward Sword's music more, but that's another story.
Without spoiling much of the plot (little of which I know currently anyway), the basic premise is that in the game's distant past, there were two warring, titanic deities--Bionis and Mechonis-- and after eons of fighting, naught but their lifeless bodies remained. Eons later, life and civilizations of humanoid races came to be on the gigantic body of Bionis and lived in relative peace, that is until they were attacked by the Terminators mechanical life forms that originated from Mechonis' body. However, this dude named Dunban used a legendary blade known as the Master SwordMonado to gain victory in their battle against their enemy. A year or two later, Skulk (the main protagonist) must take up the Monado to fend off another attack by this dude name Metal Face and....well, that's all I can remember, I haven't played the game for a few weeks.
Whatever. Pick the game up next year. I mean it. You'd better.
