Ok, I can't wait much longer for this. People as we now know are getting banned for cursing on profiles right? Good. Not cursing or doing anything that would normally get you banned in the chatroom on profiles isn't too hard. So why are people still getting banned?
For the admins who ban for profanity. Look at the date, don't be stupid, look at the date the comment was left. If a dang curse is a month old don't ban the person. -_- Its retarded bans like that, that cause people to leave. And I don't know if you have noticed but recently comment deleting doesn't work. I've seen it happen first hand. So why is this bad? Here's an example, I ban [user] for leaving sexual content on a profile. 2 days later he or she gets banned again for the same reason.
Thats lame.
I looked at the banlist, and a user was banned for spam? I check the profile where it happened. The spam was 2 months old. What the hell? I know its extreme to say that, but seriously? As an admin its your job to not only keep things safe but also to pay attention to detail. Use your brain.
Why would a member get perma-banned for getting banned 3 times for the same thing? That makes no sense, and you know what? Good point, someone might get perma'd for being banned enough. Worst part is it would be for 1 thing. Completely pointless and unfair.
And maybe you have done this DC? Fighting to provide a good reason as to why, trying to make it seem like you're not the "bad guy". Just stop, hopefully you see that this whole problem is messed up. Take responsibility for your actions, if admitting you're making mistakes is this hard, maybe..... I'd rather not say, I'm glad some of the other admins understand this. Hopefully in time you will too.
I've made my point, if you choose to keep commenting or keep dragging on (directed at everyone) I probably will not comment in reply.
Well some of it is the admin's fault, maybe if the banner looked at the actual date the comment was left there wouldn't be a problem, and for the record, multiple bans for the same thing could EASILY be stopped. The person gets banned almost right after leaving a bad comment. Or at least a day or two afterwards. If the admin didn't ban for a month old comment there wouldn't be multiple bans because he/she SHOULD assume the person was banned already. (Most likely was)
That is my point. And if the banner does use his/her discretion, the member has just been unfairly banned.
Response to first comment: It's not on purpose, admins are trying to avoid banning at the moment for profile comments because of the bug. You make it sound like it's a intentionall reason admins get to ban someone multiple times.
Response to 2nd: Personall opinion, as the "/rules" say admins use their own discretion so you can't say its idiotic other wise.
Yes, you admins do have the right to ban at any time if neccesary. But you wold make us all happier if you gave us warnings first. I got banned for currsing in my profile. Without a warning! And thats an example of shoot and explain later why you did it. And thats why I like no admins accept JABINATOR; that gives a chanse to undo your mistake
Strike back twice as hard. Hopefully I can get an Overlord's attention with this. Once the Overlord sees the issue is indeed real, this will get resolved. Maybe even a new rule added. No month old bans. -_-'
Wow, I respect your opinions Maxi and DC. But sometimes you need to step in and state the facts.
Date of comment IS IMPORTANT. I'll tell you why. Santahasteeth has been banned at least 3 times in the last 2-3 weeks, why? Because of spam on I believe Tory EX's profile (something like that) Now this isn't bad, I mean its spam right? WRONG Its about a month - two months old.
How the heck would you know if she was already banned for it? Explain that. Because if you don't the person was already banned, guess what? Person gets banned again. This time for an idiotic reason. Why should a member be put through the agony of another 24 hour ban for no reason? The date is of importance because the person might not even remember leaving the comment. For love of God, open your eyes and see things from the MEMBER'S point of view.
And if there's one thing I've noticed, and this is always true. No one wants to accept the idea that they're wrong, even with rock-hard evidence right in from of their face. I made the mistake of banning for something done in December. I will NEVER ban unless the comment is at least 4 days old. When I got mail asking why the person was banned... Thats when I realized that the person didn't even know what they did wrong. I won't ever make that mistake again. See it from the normal member's point of view.
Alright, here's the thing: I already warned everyone for watching what they say in people's blogs, profile, bio, signatures and comments because the new profile watchers will report it to the chatmins. (unless they're chatmin theirselve) Yet I see a whole bunch of cussers and spam.
Like Divine sais, the date is of no importance. The person who made a mistake should've deleted it BEFORE we saw it. If not, then its tough luck for the user.
Surely we're not gonna ban you for cussing once or just a little spam, you can slip out here and there, but if we this multiple times in different profiles you will be delivered a 24 hour ban. Old comment or new, it doesn't matter.
Thats why, people, I ask yet again:
Please check twice before you comment something or delete any rude comments you posted before. We're watching all the profiles so we hope we don't caught you doing something wrong and see your name in the banlist.
Response to blog: Users need to pay for what ever they did, the date of it being posted dosent really matter. If the ban(s) are idiotic why are users foolish enough to give us a reason to ban them. Rather saying it's the admin(s) fault for banning a user because of what they did a while ago, why don't you teach them not to do it in the first place then everything would be ok wouldn't it?
In addition to that, the job wouldn't be created if this nonsense didn't occour from the first place.
