Silence
Alone. No one.
So quiet, her blinks seemed to be heard.
A rustle sounded as she raised her head,
She just looked, didn’t say a word.
Biting her lip,
The dark room seemed to… invite
Thoughts she repelled before
Now her mind craved them with a ravenous appetite.
She rose
As if it would break
The silence but really,
It was breaking her, trying to take
Her sanity, her control,
Acting as a friend
Who would listen,
Who would understand and know.
It knew no one would hear her,
So with an unseen
Glint Silence plotted his evil sheme.
She paced,
Her mind raced,
She wanted to put on the brakes,
She tried to break the silence but
Poor thing,
Silence was breaking her.
Listen.
You will hear nothing.
Nothing?
Nothing.
She knew silence would listen, would let her think;
Silence loved her dark thoughts
Silence swallowed them like a sweet, refreshing drink.
Silence drove her on.
She lost her fear to terror
As her knees hit the hard floor.
Silence drove her to reach for it,
Silence laughed as she grasped it,
Silence clapped as she raised it,
Silence smiled as she plunged it…
…As she plunged it deep, deep into her heart.
Silence slithered away as they found her,
They that wouldn’t listen
Would now forever
Regret
Not having let
Her speak.
Now,
What could they do?
Oh, if you don’t break Silence,
Silence might break you.
