Hello fellow Painters! The rumors were true after all, Nintendo is making a new 3DS, for some this may be some bad news, but for others good news, mainly those who didn't get a 3DS yet.

Satoru Iwata has announced the new version of Nintendo's newest portable at a closed doors event at Tokyo, a few details were given about it, but the full unveiling will happen at this year's E3 at Los Angeles.

First of all, the new version won't be called "3DS Lite" or "3DS xl", it was told that the name might change but for now its known as "3DS + (3DS Plus)".

Nintendo promises the new device will have a wider viewing angle for the 3D effect, a slightly bigger top and bottom screen, as well as a larger battery providing more juice for our enjoyment.

And the most expected: 2 slide pads, one in the left side. Hardware pictures were not given.

The new device will also have bigger internal memory, although it was not revealed how much, this could increase the price considerably.

It was also said that Nintendo would have special trade-in plans for the older devices, offering discounts to whoever wants to get the new device while trading the older one, this clearly is a move to avoid an even bigger amount of angry fans protesting and maybe boycotting the company for the extreme decision.

Nintendo has not talked about how the "new" 3D effect will work, but its already expected they will stick to the same technology the first 3DS has, the parallax barrier.

Its possible to increase the viewing angle by tracking the user's view and adjusting the screen in real time.
