John spent years on his spaceship. He has learned to cope on the island. He eats the fruit that grow there, and the animals.
He had come to the point that he had feared the whole time he was building. The point where he had to find a fuel source. He was thinking about it the whole time. He had no ideas. He stared off into the endless sea. Then, he got an idea. Hydroelectric power. Clean, fast, and renewable.
His plan was to use flint and steel to light the fire, and to relight, and boil water, which will turn turbines to create elecricity. But, instead of wasting the water, he will let it condensate and reuse it. It was a great plan, foolproof. John would go home. Then, the alien came and said "I see you made a functioning ship."
John replied, "What are you doing here? I don't need your help."
"I just wanted to see how you are doing, but there is one flaw. You don't know where Earth is."
John's heart sank. What the alien said was true. He had no idea where Earth was. His whole plan was ruined.
"Now if you don't mind," said the alien, "I got a rebel to catch."
Then the alien walked away. John's hopes went back up. Maybe the rebel could help him. But he also thought it could be a trap. Then he was greeted by an unfimiliar face, alien, who gave him a folded piece of what seemed to be paper, and ran off.
John opened it up, and saw nothing but dots, and a circle. What did this mean? Was it their language? Was it some sort of code? John had no idea until he looked into the sky and saw the same dot pattern without the circle. The paper was a star chart, and the circle must have been where earth is. This filled his hopes to the max.
