Some Guy I Used To Know
(written for someone who used to be like a brother to me...)


I remember back when,
even on the gloomiest days,
we'd lay in the rain,
and our laughter made it
that much brighter.
We got along so well,
we were so much alike,
inseperable, it seemed,
and for a long while,
we never changed.

Until that one day...
something was different,
oh yes, I could tell.
Your eyes seemed duller,
your breath seemed colder,
your words to me,
harsh and shrewd.
I didn't like it.
I felt like I didn't even
know you anymore...

I long for him back,
that friend of mine
that I could share smiles with,
that I knew so well...
But he is gone now.
This boy standing before me
isn't you at all...
You've been replaced by a stranger.
Now that good friend of mine
is just some guy I used to know...
