She walks to school with a lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holding back
Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen & lace, oh
The teacher wonders, but she doesn't ask.
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of the secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind & the rain, she stands hard as a stone
In a world where she can't rise above
But her dreams, give her wings, & she flies to a place
Where she's lived
Concrete Angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear but they turn out the light
A fragile soul caught in the hands pf fate
When morning comes, it'll be too late
Through the wind & the rain, She stands hard as a stone
In a world where she can't rise above
But her dreams, give her wings, & she flies to a place
Where she's loved
Concrete angel
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
Through the wind & the rain, she stands hard as a stone
In aworld where she can't rise above
But her dreams, give her wings, & she flies to a place
Where she's loved
Concrete Angel
This song kinda reminds of myself at times, only I'm not physically abused. I'm verbally abused.
I live with my grandparents, and they (mostly my grandpa) always call me names that I cannot repeat on this site and tell me things like, they wish they would've let me go into foster care when I was taken from my mom as a baby.
It gets to me sometimes, but others, I just think to myself, "Hey, in about 4 years, I can finally crawl out of this hell hole and maybe find some happiness.
I love this song. I can kind of relate to what Wolfy said, I have had CPS called on my family twice, saying that my family emotionally abuses me. They came to my school and took pictures of the cuts on my arm....I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT BRO.
I hate to be a jerk, but it's Martina McBride, not Martine.
My Bestfriends listen to this song.. i cry every night..
