Five hundred boats slid up on the shore of Skyros. Sand and rock piled up around the massive boats. Loud clanking echoed along the coast. Projectiles were sent through the air and were colliding with the surface, bringing up debris and smoke. Fire quickly covered the grassy fields, consuming it. Once the bridges to the boats lowered, soldiers started walking out with their weapons. They were yelling and beating their weapons against their armor. They easily made up ten thousand strong with their massive Achaean boats. The attack was projected at night due to the Ionians sleeping. Lights shot up along the Persenian coast as a few soldiers lit up torches. A group of soldiers rallied around a large boulder and built up a plan. One soldier in the group stepped forward and placed the tip of its sword in the sand.
"We must keep this fight at night. If we do not sack Skyros by then, we will not have any advantage over the Ionians. If all else fails, we retreat." One man looked down at the markings in the sand and spit at it.
"We do not retreat, Athena!"
"Skyros is divided into four main points. Along the West and East, and along the North and South. We must bombard the southern point and make our way in. Menelaus is inside. He's held prisoner and we need to get him."
Another man was staring at the fire, hypnotised.
"I will make us some strong weaponry."
"Hephaestus, we shouldn't worry about that. Ares is going to sneak in and open the gate for us, then, we will split and take all points."
The group gathered their weapons and made their way back to the rest of the army. All the soldiers hollered and stormed the shore, holding their weapons close. Ares, the most experienced soldier, approached the wall to Skyros and squinted at it. Quickly he sheathed his sword, pulled out daggers, and jammed them into the wall. At a rather steady pace, Ares made his way up the twenty-five foot wall. An opening in the wall caused him to stop and wait.
