Note: This blog was from last year. The rewards for submitting games still stand. I am going to finally put up the details of entry within the next few days. Bring on the games!


Well, this year's Game for a Game Competition was a complete flop. There were absolutely no entries. It's very disappointing that no one wanted to enter this year, after seeing all the success of last year, which had around 10 games.

Since this is a gaming community, I am still pushing forward with the goal of adding more gaming content. Starting today, ANY game submissions will get a Nintendo Points/eShop card. The games need not be new, but you must be the developer. They must be playable on the browsers for the Wii, DSi, or 3DS. There will be a grand prize for the game voted the best by the community next October 1st, but the Nintendo Points/eShop card will be awarded immediately.

I'll put more details on the Games pages for each website this week.

Hmm... does fixing DSiMystery count? (Yes, I will be doing that! Just really unhappy that StuffMan named all the pages random names like Page0327.html and the next Page2413.html. :/ Good way to stop cheaters, though.)

What about a game like DSi Mystery? It uses several web pages, and looks like it runs on HTML.

You still can't make a game with HTML and CSS only. That's practically impossible. It has to have some sort of scripting in it, if it be Javascript, PHP or whatever.

What happens if the game is developed by two people working together? Are they both paid, or are games only accepted by individual developers?

I'm sure it's fine if two people make it as long as everyone who is helped is credited for the project. How you split the prize is up to you guys. The more people working on a project, the better it is probably going to be.

I don't think the prize can be split though. If you are paid with an e-shop card, then the funds are non-transferrable, and the card can't be split between systems. If I'm thinking correctly, then it is better to just submit a game that's developed by only one person, or to give the card to just one person on the team, right?

Well it's better with more people because it can get done faster and better. You guys can choose how you want to split it up. If it's one of your friends working with you, then I'm sure you too can work something out. You could just do it for the heck of making a game for fun. When I made my Maze of Blogs, I gave my prize to one of my friends who didn't even help me with the game. I gave it to him for the heck of it.

I see what you mean. It's too bad the 3DS e-shop doesn't have a "gift" feature though. That would make splitting a card easy.

what's petit computer?

"Petit Computer" is a program you can find on eShop which lets you make games and such on your DSi/3DS using 'BASIC' commands.
