A moral is a principle that decides what is 'good' and what is 'bad'. It includes our decisions and actions and says what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'. But what is 'right'? And what is 'wrong'?
What is the value of a moral? As we know, a moral is essentially an opinion. It's when the majority of people agree on whether something is good or bad. Our opinions are shaped by our beliefs, our culture, our religion, our past experiences, memories and others. With so many contributing factors, people are bound to disagree and if they do then is it still moral? Would it stll be true though it disagrees with others?
For example, in some cultures people practise sacrification however, in the western world, many find this immoral and unjust. But what decides whether it is immoral? It is in their opinion that sacrifications are important and holy but in others it's sick. Theoretically, if the majority of the world believes it is bad, does this automatically mean it is immoral?
Here's what I think: Morals are not totally true. There isn't a proof that something is moral or immoral. One man likes to kill, the other likes to help people, one man likes chocolate icecream while the other likes vanilla, it is just an opinion, there is no scientific law or factual evidence that proves that killing is immorral/moral. Therefore, I believe that one cannot state that something /is/ moral, it is only what is believed by majority.
I've labelled this blog as 'Ask for Help' because I'd like to hear some opinions. Do you think morality is faulty? Or do you believe that what is considered moral by majority is what is true? Are my opinions faulty or do you agree?
