Today, we both welcomed and had to say our farewells to the newest member of the family. We are thankful for the short time that we had with our son.
Our little boy, Castiel Stewart Gump, was born at 4:25AM November 23rd, 2012, without life, but he will still always be loved as our third child. The doctor said he did not suffer.
He was beautiful and so peaceful. At 35 weeks, he was a small 18" and 5Lbs 1oz. Unlike his older sister and brother, had a full head of hair.
Castiel was baptized by the Soin Hospital chaplain, and we will have a funeral service for him on Sunday, where we will all be baptized by the same vial of water and shell used for him. We plan to have him cremated and kept in an urn until we find a suitable burial site. I will be placing a photo of him next to Gabriella and Mitchell at work. Other mementos from his birth will be kept at the house and cherished for as long as we live.
Keeping with the tradition held for his siblings, Castiel will be given an ounce of silver on each birthday and Christmas. We will one day donate these to a charity, in his name, so that his short time on Earth can indirectly touch the lives of others in need. One possible charity would be an orphanage in a third-world country, where we would adopt a child and explain that his or her big brother made it all possible.
This is a difficult time for the family, so we ask that you do NOT contact us to offer condolences, as that will just be a constant reminder during this time of mourning. Nevertheless, please do keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
