I know we often hear about how violent and gore filled today's games are and how they're having a negative effect on kids, but until recently I never took it seriously. Blood and death in games was never something that mattered much to me, and growing up I really didn't know anyone who took issue with it. But after what I've seen, I think things are starting to get out of hand.

A few days ago I was on the Nintendo DSi Shop looking for something fun to play. I'm sure this doesn't matter, but while browsing through the games my connection started to screw up and the menu got a bit glitchy. This was a bit frustrating especially since my DSi is already damaged and sometimes doesn't load things properly.

Anyway, after the trouble I wanted to at least get a game so my time wasn't completely wasted even though I kept getting this weird split screen of different menus. What I found was just astonishing; a first person pet shooter.

The title was Petz: 99Bullets

Apparently a cross between the Petz game series and a shooting game where I imagine the pet owner goes crazy and hunts down his pets. It was hard to tell for sure since the screen was messed up.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think this is a step too far! It's totally inappropriate for kids! The idea of a pet shooting game is barbaric! And I would have only played it a little if I'd had enough points to buy it!

This wasn't the only game with mature themes either. There was also Animal Boxing, a game where you beat animals, and Mixed Messages. I didn't read the descriptions, but I think we all know what "mixed messages" are. It's almost as bad as Toy Story, a movie where a young boy's limp cowboy doll named "Woody" would come to life whenever alone.

Games are getting too adult. Even with a badly damaged DSi, I can tell it's true. What's worse, they hide these games to keep from being caught! I know because they disappear when I look for them on anyone else's system!
