Finally, version 1.0.0 of the SDK Community iOS app has been submitted to Apple for review. This process averages about 6 days, so we may see the app live next weekend.
During April, I will get back to The Mystical Journey and release another demo. After that point, development on the next version of the app will commence.
Here is a brief run-down of the features in version 1.0.0:
Main Menu
The main menu shows all the goodies that are available. If you are logged out, My Messages will be inaccessible.
My Messages
In here, you initially see your inbox and outbox, plus an icon to click for composing a new message. The inbox and outbox look very similar to the websites, with green highlight for unread messages. You can delete any messages from those menus or click into the messages to view. Inbox messages can be deleted or replied. Outbox messages can only be deleted.
My Settings
In here, you can adjust the number of inbox and outbox messages, the span of blog days, the number of polls, and whether or not Local Notifications show (more on that in a moment).
Blogs
In this first version, the Blogs area is the same as the Featured Blogs page on the websites. In here, you can view the blogs (with rich text stripped for the initial release). Comments show in a single thread (i.e. no hierarchy yet). You can post a new comment to any blog, if you are logged in.
Polls
Polls show as they do on the websites. Clicking a specific poll allows viewing and voting. Once you vote on a poll, the running results display.
About
This page gives a brief summary on the SDK Community for anyone who downloads the app out of curiosity. It provides links to sign up for a new account.
Local Notifications
These are similar to push alerts, but they don't go through a remote server. I've chosen to use Local Notifications for the first release and integrate push alerts in the future.
To make use of this feature, take any action that puts the app into the background (switching to another app, minimizing, etc.). For approximately 10 minutes, iOS allows the app to continue running. It will monitor for new alerts to your account and pop them up on your device. These are the same kinds of alerts you see on the websites when logged in.
Of course. We should have 'Inauguration Week' where we have an event each day to celebrate my inauguration. And on the last day of Inauguration Week, I shall give my speech.
Thus ends the wise words of President Dripperius the Third
