A glance in the mirror I took,
Expecting to see Beauty,
Instead there's the Beast,
So I slip on my mask with a beautiful look.

I walk out the door,
And past all my friends,
Down the sidewalk,
And past the morgue.

I keep walking,
My head down,
Too afraid to show my face,
Afraid they'll start laughing.

As I walk,
I see an old man,
He's sitting on the sidewalk,
And we start to talk.

"I see you wear a mask,"
He said,
"Why not be yourself?
Why do I even need to ask?

"I Know your problem,
I've been through it too,
It took me awhile,
Why not show them?"

I took of my mask,
And took a deep breathe,
Sucking in the fresh air,
And then I had to ask,

"Why do you want me to look like a beast?"
He sighed,
Handed me a mirror,
And replied,

"There's no beast in you,
Just a beauty,
But to find it,
You must be true."

As I looked in the glass,
I saw true beauty,
Not a fake face,
Just me, The beauty without a beast mask.
